IS NOISE ROCK DEAD?
rip in peace
yeah wtf
stevie albini, the GOD of noise rock (the easily digestible, clean production "noise" rock), haven't even PRODUCED (hell if I know what this word means anyway but /mu/ uses it a lot so it must mean GOOD MUSIC) any good albums recently so it must be a dead genre!!
No one listened to noise rock to begin with. A couple hipsters here and there.

yes, and no, more yes, than no. Was it ever "huge?" like -- I remember shit like No Wave, and Jesus Lizard, Sonic Youth, Shellac, etc. But none of those bands ever really hit the mainstream, closest one could say would of been Animal Collective's Strawberry Jam and Merriweather Post Pavilion. Maybe Japandroids, but they're too Springsteen to be too nosey.

be gone

If anything there would be more ''''digestible'''' noise rock being put out now because more people are aware of albinicore (which isn't actually happening either). So I don't know what you're on about. Not to mention the fact that a lot of the albums he produced were pretty abrasive.

I'm not talking in the mainstream at all but up until recently there have been small underground scenes going on. There are certainly new bands here and there.

nope. still here. don't like it, find a different thread.

but have any of them made a name for themselves with a... ugh, corner stone album, not like groundbreaking, but good enough to sit along side classic noise rock, etc?
It's alive and it's living in Belgium.

I'm OP, that's why I made this thread. I'm not an expert on the genre and there's a lot I haven't listened to but there have only been a couple releases that I think are up to par with older ones. Specifically, new bands like Girl Band, Dope Body and Street Sects are promising. I guess I'm not saying the genre is dead but I'm worried that it might be burnt out after the boom of great releases in the middle of the 2000s. Maybe I'm not giving new bands enough time to find recognition, I don't know.
these dudes are pretty good, so are Guerilla Toss, White Suns, tons of good noise rock bands just not as big an indie subgenre as it once was because "indie" per se is kinda dead
