It's obvious from the fact that they used the term 'works music' that they are taking a superficial interest in it. If they had an actual interest they would specify which genre (Hindustani, Australian Aboriginal, afrobeat). The only connection between these genres are that they are from non-western backgrounds which suggests that is the only reason OP is interested in them. Hence genre tourist

*world music not works music

there's a bit of controversy around the term - iirc it was born out of record companies trying to cash in on the west's interest in the musical other around the time when the Beatles and others started playing with Indian music, and putting anything non-western into an easily identifiable blanket genre. I prefer 'traditional' but it's just semantics
here's a recording of some Japanese gagaku which I quite like - haven't listened through so far but the beginning is quite nice.

Also here's some random Javanese gamelan recording - gamelan music inspired a bunch of classical composers from Debussy and Lou Harisson to Xenakis

i understood world music to be genre blending stuff mixing of cultures of the world like >>72214649 that is not purely a traditional music but taking influence from caribean folk music, usa folk, and the nyc art world. or stuff like. something like mark ernestus ndagga rhythm force, or like ry cooder and ali farka toure, mahavishnu orchestra, or shit like that that combines folk traditions and popular styles of various parts of the world

This is a couple of Jewish dances if I'm correct - the hand-drum player and fiddler get into a pretty serious groove at the end
