starless is great my boy
>I love prog, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, the list goes on...
>>72212423
i love that one
>>72212402
Red and pic related are my top 2 currently.
Peter Hammill might be my favorite singer. His voice and performance is so outstanding.
>>72212445
well tell us obscure prog bands
>>72212445
Well prog is objectively one of the worst genres out there, if you know prog artists outside of those two your a fat fucking nerd.
>>72212476
your a
>>72212476
>objectively
So the more musical complexity increases, the more objectively bad music becomes?
Tell me, what is it like to be a turbonormie?
this man is keeping prog alive
>>72212402
>>72212493
I could love that album, if it wasnt for the shittiest production ever.
>>72212402
There's an angel standing in the sun,
and he's crying with a loud voice,
"This is the supper of the mighty one",
Lord of Lords,
King of Kings,
Has returned to lead his children home,
To take them to the new Jerusalem.
>>72212494
what's it like to be a fat fucking nerd?
kys yourself
>>72212414
ITCOTCK, Lizard, LTiA and Red are all much more interesting than Islands. One could even make an argument for Discipline being included above it, too.
>>72212527
i'd be a fat fucking nerd but at least my grammar is correct
>>72212538
who cares fag
>>72212527
You have to go back

>only nerds listen to stuff outside of top 40

Let's not let the English have all the fun
>>72212553
where did I say that?
Tago Mago is the best prog album of all time
>>72212402

Meddle, Atom Heart Mother, Animals, In the Court of the Crimson King, Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Future Days, Lightbulb Sun, Misplaced Childhood, pic related
I'm only getting into it, so I'll bump in hope to find out some good obscured prog rock albums
Who /AOR/ here?

The best and probably the only good neoprog album.
>>72213992
The Mars Volta is not neo prog
Heldon bitches
>>72212423
Great Gig In The Sky is fucking brilliant

Picked this up on vinyl for pretty cheap, loving it

Probably the best Tool clone out there
>>72214275
Except they don't sound like Tool. Like, at all. The vocals in Terra and Eidolon were pretty derivative of Maynard's, but Drew kicks them up a notch for Feathergun onward. I think Living with Ghosts is better than anything Tool's ever done.
>>72213973
this.
>kys yourself
How does it feel to be a retarded normie?
>>72213992
>Not the Bedlam in Goliath

Wrong

>>72212523
best genesis.
>>72214477
NOW this is a Tool clone
>>72214527
Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot are pretty close imo. I think the Musical Box is their best song, but Watcher of the Sky and Supper's Ready are pretty dope too
>>72214528
How?
Definitely overlooked in Soft Machine's discography. Allan really shines on this album. It even features a beautiful acoustic guitar track of the master himself. A great album overall.
>>72212510
it's the ultimate pleb filter
>>72212402
same as yours, op
Caravan is the best prog band and this is the best prog album
>>72215456
yea, if you live in a caravan
>>72215475
You got me there.
>>72215456
I want to eat that cover art
Looks like Ice Cream and Chocolate
>>72215323
>post number series album
That's dodgy territory anon. I'm never bothered following a band along a downward trajectory so I stopped at six. There's a strong general trend of early prog bands falling into decline after a couple of great albums.
>>72214448
This. Goliath is criminally overlooked.
>>72215566
This was their last great album. Listen to it, you won't be disappointed.
Even though it crosses into the realm of jazz fusion, it's a classic nonetheless.
>>72215690
The same applies to Danger Money. One of the best John Wetton's vocal performances too.
better than 90% of the posts ITT
>>72215745
I've avoided his other albums, because of his pop and AOR sensibilities, but is I Robot worth listening to?
wow, a thread that isn't full of shitposts, nice
>>72215456
One of those beautifully British albums, along with Selling England by the Pound and Octopus.
One of the albums with the most thoroughly realized concepts, along with 666. Make sure you listen to the remastered version. I think the audio engineer who did it is a true genius.
>>72215779
it's honestly one of the greatest prog albums of all time. great production, although it's a bit funkier than a lot of prog. I'd say it's a bit similar to DSOTM
>>722126 best avant-prog band ever. The live album Aerazione and Maledetti are fucking beautiful.
>>72212476
>>72212414
ITCOTCK > Discipline > Red > Larks > Starless > Poseidon > Lizard > Islands >> the rest
>>72215850
Where I can dl the remaster? I've been searching it for a long time now.

>>72216204
I would also recommend listening to the original version first and then listening to the remastered one. That way, you can see how much of a difference it really made.
>>72213973
agreed, Lady Fantasy is probably the best prog rock song of all time right next to Echoes
>>72212497
More like putting me to sleep
RIP Allan Holdsworth (Soft Machine, U.K, Bruford)
>>72216204
No flac version?
>>72216899
Why do you need flac? Rutracker has their discography in flac too.
>>72216953
Ty, also which other albums do you recc from them?

The flute is the heaviest instrument of all time
Just discovered this, amazing album by a Spanish flamenco prog band from the 70s. Totally recommended.
>>72215456
