This album is alright.
>>72203815
That's what i thought i first too, but i started playing close attention to lyrics and realized it's probably his best work.
>>72203903
Oh wow did not expect that. it sounded very alright to me when listening to it
It's made by a racist. why are you supporting a racist?
>>72204040
The track featuring him laughing to to the bank and like laughing at the listener. That triggered me
>>72204040
project harder faggot
>>72203903
There's not fucking way that it's going to stay a 98. If you flamboyantly tries to sell this album with a billy mays complex there's still no way this thing goes over gkmc
>>72203815
I'm listening to it now for the first time and I like it more than pimp a butterfly
>>72204138
I liked DAMN. but yes I have to agree. GKMC is his best release yet.
Do people not realize how significant TPAB really was?
GKMC, DAMN, UU are all 8/10s
TPAB is 9.5/10
>>72204480
TPAB>DAMN.>GKMC>UU
>>72204138
good kid maad city is overrated.
>>72204156
You're probably still at the beginning
>>72203903
>UU only 86
Why? I really liked it. I know it was basically a bonus album but it was good and completely overshadowed the drake album that came out a week prior
>>72204690
untitled unmastered is actually my favorite kendrick album. don't tell anyone though
>that ceelo track
hnngg
>>72204156
Yeah like 4 songs in and stopped, listening to fontano talk about death grips now and just heard mde is coming back
if feels like I've teleported 4 years in the past
its a good feel senpai
>MAYBE I WASN'T THEREEEEEE
PRIDE is the best track
>>72204748
you misspelled FEEL
>>72204748
omg I agree anon
>>72204732
Every song is good. The two worst songs (LOVE., GOD.) are still good. No song on this album I felt like I was forcing myself to listen to, everything is really sonically palatable. I only wish he rapped more on certain songs, but other songs his rapping is the best it's ever sounded, so it balances out
damn is his best album imo. its not better than twisted fantasy though.
>>72204929
damn...
>>72204690
>overshadowed the drake album that came out a week prior
Views came out april 29 though
>>72204480
Only guy in here that isn't a complete nigger about the scores. TPAB is a masterpiece. Everything else is commercial.
>muh bangers
>muh disses
>muh 808s
TPAB has Kendrick's best production.
DAMN. has Kendrick's best lyrical writing.
how is it rated at 98 when there r 2 80s?
if u calculate it, its 92.2
>>72204763
i agree. feel is incredible.
>>72205035
Because Sputnikmusics review sucked. They said they didn't wanna even mention LOYALTY because it was awful, so their opinion was rightfully discarded
>>72204763
You misspelled XXX. FEAT. U2.
>>72205132
metacritic is allowed to ignore certain reviews in the score? since when? and why display the review there if ur not gonna count it?
>>72205013
Disagree, TPAB definitely best production, but also his beat lyricism,
DAMN displays more of his technical genius I think
>>72205197
XXX will be stuck in my head for weeks.
>>72203815
I think u mean this album is whack
>>72204603
GKMC is the perfect west coast rap album. Explores all sides of it through several club bangers that also double as deep means of storytelling as well as some deeper tracks that can further explore what's going on inside Kendrick's world. His delivery and flow is near perfect on each and every song and production is spot on.
>>72205197
ALRIGHT KIDS WE GON TALK ABOUT GUN CONTROL
>>72208048
(pray for me)
>>72204929
Kendrick literally made his MBDTF and Yeezus in one album. It's better.
>>72204690
If you think UU is just a bonus album and not a valid artistic statement on it's own, you didn't pay enough attention. The clues in the name for gods sake.
>>72205013
DAMN. hit me a lot harder for some reason. The songs are slow, and have sparse production, but it all feels meaningful.
>>72208120
DAYUUM
nah its pretty gud pham
>>72204748
agreed, incredible track
>>72203815
Yeh it's ok.
>>72204480
How was it significant?
>>72209644
(You)
>>72204040
reverse snowflake is reverse triggered
>>72205013
Is this why DAMN. sounds like some asshole had a flac version of it, converted it to 128 kbps CBR and then back to 320 to upload? Because there is a noticeable drop in quality in some of the tracks.
>>72204974
is that really all you have reduced his music to? based on what? you're either a contrarian or extremely superficial. and that's not necessarily saying you have to like it, but to reduce it to that bullshit is lame and you should aim higher than that man. sincerely
>>72205254
IIRC they have a weighting system in place, with more "relevant" publications' score being more significant, mainly put in place because e.g. in vidya IGN has tons of subsidiaries that all do their own reviews of games, so with this system IGN can't strongman a score just by putting out tons of reviews with the same score. (ofc it opens a can of worm about politics and stuff, but w/e)
>>72204763
I actually think FEEL. is one of the low points of the record. It's good, sure, and I love the shouting bit, but it's just a bit too low-key and monotone in comparison to a lot of the other tracks.
>>72211300
Reverse-reverse-SJW falls for reverse false flag
>>72211404
lol :-)
>>72203815
How do white people listen to this and not feel degraded as fuck. I mean, he essentially implies in DNA that white people are an abomination. Not even from /pol/, just legitimately wonder how white people retain any sense of self-respect after hearing that shit and liking it
>>72203815
Everyone is just mad because only white people bought Kendricks music and now he's trying to get the black audience
>>72211615
>that timestamp
Guess this post is truth
its pretty mediocre. I was convinced it was comming out on the 16th and yesterday everywhere I checked it said the 14th.
Mandela effect?
>>72211642
No. You just got the date wrong
>>72211593
you're an idiot. if you think he's coming at white people then those lines you're feeling degraded by are aimed at you. Take this L
>>72204974
>thinks TPAB is a masterpiece but still perpetuates use of the n word
>98/100 on metacritic
jesus christ, I swear at this point he could release a Drake covers album and every critic would be riding his dick.
>>72211593
you clearly have confidence issue
>>72204748
FEAR is the best track
>>72211678
>I-i-its not about me, I'm a good white person
You're deluded
>>72204040
he's an anti semite
everybody saying that TPAB was a masterpiece, the album wasn't for the sake of music or for Kendrick's creativity, he made that album in response to all the fucking police shootings that were going unresolved. black people were getting shot and everybody was blaming hip hop. damn and GKMC were both done for the pure purpose of kendrick lamar making music the way he liked. They are personal and less intentional, containing huge chunks of Kendrick's character rather than damage control responding to the social climate
>>72211792
>everybody saying that TPAB was a masterpiece, the album wasn't for the sake of music or for Kendrick's creativity
Lol shut the fuck up you cretin
>>72211793
RUDE.
>>72211678
I get those lines are ambiguous, but black people interpret them as directed at white people as well. There is an undeniable tone which probably results from Kendrick appealing to a more black audience
>>72211828
Yeah he also has the clip of the guy basically outlining that everyone but white people are the true "Israelites"
>>72207907
theres a difference between black artist and whack artists
The music is very somber and sober. Not too grandiose. And that's not a criticism. I love this album a lot.
>>72203815
I think I'd give it a 6 or 7 out of 10
TPAB>GKMC>UU, from there I'm not sure, section 80 might be better than Damn, need to mull it over more
>>72211840
>>72211828
while i think these lines serve more of the narrative of album than a political view, not specifically relating his DNA to an ethnicity in the song. its pretty present especially for the people who are only going for the bangers on the album and already have this kind of mentality
unfortunate, he does mention black is only a color in another song so theres that
>>72211828
>>72211840
I don't get these lines. Can someone explain? Is it actually slightly anti white?
>>72211879
no, race baiting tards reaching imo
>>72211879
I need to listen to it and think about it. At minimum the Israelite thing is just a dumb misguided search for black positivity and identity
>>72211894
Yeah of course people are going to say shit like that. But with the Israelites thing saying that they're gods children and are sent to America until they repent is kinda fucked up. DNA would be a direct correlation with the "your DNA an abomination" while his has "royalty". Maybe he's just referring to geraldos racist tendicies that are embedded in white america.
>>72211903
but who really gives a fuck if anyone wants to claim being an israelite? religitards and thats it. literally none of his lyrics are problematic. this is like when the feminazis went after him for saying he likes stretch marks in humble
>>72211945
>who really gives a fuck if anyone wants to claim being an israelite?
>>72211945
Don't get me wrong, I'm not offended by it, nobody should be, I just think it's fucking retarded and fun to laugh at, it's some hardcore "we wuz kangz" shit.
>>72211955
Maybe he'll pull a Dylan (born again) and we'll hear some other shit in a few years.
>>72211955
Not him but I'm a kike and I don't care. I didn't take Kendrick literally on those verses anyway, and if people want to believe ancient Hebrews were black there's nothing you can do to stop them or convince them they're wrong. Also it's funny seeing another Ashkenazi get butthurt his "Jewishness" is in question when we're just European/Levantine mutts.
>>72211970
yeah it is pretty kangz/10. kendrick's religious shit never really vibes with me. It always seems like someone else in his life is pushing religious themes on him tho, feels unnatural
>>72211955
who cares what jews think desu
>>72211955
lol @ this butthurt jew worrying about blacks trying to steal his chosen race complex. Woulda thought it was a shit tier troll if i didnt know better
>>72212000
>Judaism
>race
/pol/ needs to stay in /pol/. You're all idiots LOL
>>72203903
The lyrics are extremely good, but the beats are kinda meh.

>>72212013
Wtf are you on? You'd be hard pressed to find a better produced album this decade
Loyalty, got royalty inside my DNA
MY DNA IS NOT FOR IMITATION
YOUR DNA IS AN ABOMINATION
what did he mean by this, honestly?
>>72212096
we wuz kangz
you cant be like me
you suck.
typical rapper shit
>Look inside my soul maybe you'd find gold and get rich
> Look inside your soul find out it never exist
DOES KENDRICK THINK WHITE PEOPLE DONT HAVE SOULS?
>>72212096
I think it's referring to geraldos racism that's embedded in his family. I don't know if he's still talking about Geraldo at that point though.
>>72212013
That's understandable. That's what I thought at first too.
In my opinion, his lyrics are way more straightforward and abrasive on this album, while his beats are more ambiguous. Lots of bass. Lots of jumping from one groove to the other.
The schizophrenic, disjointed tone sounds a lot like Life of Pablo.
>>72212096
White people have about 5%-10% Neanderthal DNA in them where as blacks are %100 homo. White people are a abomination according to Kendrick
get ready boys
>>72212185
At least 9/10 incoming.
>>72212185
Why does he give black supremacist music such high scores?
I wonder if his black wife factors in to this
>>72212129
yep thats totally what i got from this album too
>>72212208
>black supremacist
prove it
>>72212232
right here

Homicidal thoughts; Donald Trump's in office
We lost Barack and promised to never doubt him again
But is America honest, or do we bask in sin?
Pass the gin, I mix it with American blood
Donald Trump is a chump, know how we feel, punk. Tell ’em that God comin’. And Russia need a replay button, y’all up to somethin’
Electoral votes look like memorial votes. But America’s truth ain’t ignorin’ the votes.
>>72212266
The Russia mention was embarrassing, proved Kendrick has no idea what he's talking about.
>>72212266
anti govt = black supremacy since when
>>72212278
Saying that he is royalty and we are an abomination is not supremacy?
The black Israelites are a BLATANT black supremacist group ffs
>>72212288
im thinking he's saying his detractors are an abomination. stop being so butt hurt
What's he actually talking about in this album? It sounds like he's referencing Jesus in a few of the songs but still don't know everything. It does seem like there are a lot of messages throughout the album
>>72212298
Saying I'm butthurt is the ultimate cop out
You know I'm right.
If a white rapper said he was part of some Pagan neo-nazi group everyone would eat him alive
But its cool to be a race supremacist with kendrick fuck that

take this shit to /pol/ please

we can't talk about him signaling as a Black Israelite?
He fucking talked about it in the song how is that not /mu/?
Its a discussion not derailment

every single thread is about this now
>>72212506
One of the most influential musicians in the world just released a new album and he appeared to state he is part of a black supremacist group
Yeah thats kinda big
Giving it another listen, its got good beats and raps.
My problem with this album is that Kendrick's personality doesn't shine as much as on GKMC or TPAB. It feels kind of rushed compared to his other albums.
Also I haven't gone deep into the lyrics yet but he could have talked about a lot on this album. For example: the shit show that the US elections have been.
Ultimately this is a pretty safe move for him. It has pretty accessible tracks for the average hip hop listener but nothing to write home about.
>>72212600
>My problem with this album is that Kendrick's personality doesn't shine as much as on GKMC or TPAB. It feels kind of rushed compared to his other albums.
you have no idea what you in for my dude, listen to it again and read lyrics. I'd say it's easily some of his most personal work. I was actually surprised he dares being this personal.

PROVE. IT.
>>72212611
yeah i'm only on my second listen. I'll have to read into it some more.
3/10 album
Earl's DNA > Kendrick's DNA
>>72212600
Who the fuck cares about the US elections? It's all been said. Anyway he mentioned it
>>72212661
but he can talk about the division of america, bubbles of information, lies, trump's sick hairdo
>>72212727
Like I said. No one gives a shit about the election any more. Except butt hurt leftists
>>72212649
pay specific attention to tracks pride, fear, and duckworth. All the other tracks are solid as well. Some of the lyrics hit very close to home.
