Maybe the lyrics are well crafted but the beats belong in the 90s, the message is beating a dead horse, no innovation, no excitement, no visceral moments of greatness. Just song after song of rappity rap over pseudo jazz beats. Possibly the most overrated album I have ever had the mispleasure of listening to.

i guess the sounds are different from each other but individually i don't get that transcendence i get from some other hip-hop songs. Just an innocuous jazz beat, kendrick flowing normally, decently catchy hook, rinse repeat. Like if you listen to Yeezus or even MBDTF there are these colossal crescendos that are just spectacular moments but i don't get that on TPAB. It just kind of trudges along.
