I'm your man
A standard kit with kick rack floor snare hat crash ride is a gentleman's choice. Any more is immodest, any less is narcissistic. One of each and self mix. Barely touch the cymbals, give a good medium thump to the kick, and bash the fuck out of the snare and toms.
Don't get strange sizes. 14 16 20 for cymbals, 22x18 16x16 and 13x9 for kick/toms and a 5.5x14 snare. Get a matte black kit(I know the gold glitter wrap looks cool, but your grindcore band won't think so). Don't tell your bandmates about work, your gf, or your hobbies. They don't care. Shut up and learn the songs.
