The writing process often consists of analysing events and people from your own life, consciously or otherwise, and generalising the results from these thoughts into something that people are able to project their own meanings on to and generate their own subjective value from. Clearly, he's been thinking about changing relationships, ageing and death in recent years/months, as many people growing out of their early adulthood begin to. None of that necessarily implies suicidal tendencies.
