I hear this is part of a double album so i might suspend a grade for now but I feel this would fit 7.5 on a scaruffi-like scale... Which is more that I would give any of his older albums.
There are lots of meditations, lots of things which will have to simmer and be duely read. The way I see it, thus is his "holy sonnets"... He contemplates his end because of vague reasons (he mentions the state of the world) and is faced with the impossibility of redemption. This is his purgatory basically, but it feels a bit too raw and visceral to be it really, so his ideas fall a bit short. Still, the rawness seems so intentional perhaps his inspiration was very strong and i should think about it more.
Great album anyhow. I dont think his fans will like it much tho, not much "black people have rough time" here.

I think that's because on the surface, TPAB is an amazing listen. The wonky beats and crazy jazz-fusion stuff really surprised a lot of people.
After GKMC no one knew what direction he would go in, and at least on first listens TPAB caught a lot of people off gaurd.

Duckworth ends with the gunshot that's in blood, and the album (on spotify) is uploaded twice so that it flows into another without you noticing.

Well, I am not sure if it's exactly what Kendrick had in mind, but from what I understood, it's about attempting to overcome/rethink convictions, feelings and beliefs only to realize that it's something that always comes back again, making you restart from the beginning.
In FEAR. for instance, he explains that he fears that he won't be able to get over the emotions he feels, so he's writing down these 14 tracks to help him mentally work on them, but then in DUCKWORTH. he explains that he realized life's not about him versus the world, but him versus himself, his thoughts, convictions and feelings. That is also why everything goes back to the start again at the end, I think it's metaphorical, not literal like some imply (with the return of Jesus).
But yeah, that's what I think it is. I might be wrong though, so who knows. Either way, I liked it.

Also I really want to point out that the whole "Blacks and Hispanics are the real Israelites" is a very well-meaning line, because the minorities are usually the ones that feel like they have no community, no real "home" to speak of, and most of the faiths are really exclusive in terms of who they accept and who don't (ask any LGBT person about that), so making them feel like they are the descendants of their ancestors, that made something good in the world, that in itself is a very wholesome idea.

On that note I thought it was quite funny that 2Pac predicted the next riot would centre around the destruction of public buildings and killing whitey rather than looting and burning down shops. This may have seemed like a reasonable prediction at the time, but including it on an album in 2015, when they're have been a load of riots in the intervening years, none of which centred around destroying political symbols, is kind of self defeating to say the least.
