You can deconstruct any genre and find the faults in it. I don't fuck with KPop (which this place loves), I don't fuck with EDM (which /mu/ loves), and I don't fuck with most Rock (which /mu/ loves).

Damn right most rap is "memerap" hell, I'll even concede and say that most of the new-age rap is driven by memes and doesn't have as much merit as people give it. Lil Uzi Vert's XO Tour Life3 (or however the fuck you say it) is cheesy as fuck and isn't all that. Bad and Boujee is one of the worst tracks I've ever heard and that is was #1 on Billboard 100 through nothing but sheer memepower. Lil Peep, Ugly God, X, Smokepurrp, Ski Mask, Lil Housephone, Weej, D Savage, and most Soundcloud rap is 100% completely dependent on hype and clout. Most people wont admit that.

That being said there is some merit to rap though. Its the idea that some niggas decided to steal beats loop them and rhymes about their everyday lives is what makes rap amazing to me. It is so lazy that its fucking genius. Now Rock is dead and Rap is more alive than ever. Granted, rap is going to peak in a couple of years until the next thing comes around but its been a good run.
