These """"people"""" can't groove worth a damn
>>72137445
same reason no-one cares about rock music in 2017 - the last 15-20 years of output has totally destroyed the credibility of these genres
I do I just can't do them and you met me during my 60s pop phase

Why so much of this then?

More marketable, much less groove. So many people dislike Coloring Book and To Pimp A Butterfly because they draw upon more classically black music. No coincidence they're also a throwback to a much more racist time, when black music was dismissed.

Remindee that Eminem, a violent sounding white artist, has sold a lot more records than chill, black artists.
I'm a pretty big soul fan (I also like r&b but I guess what we call r&b today is a different genre than "rhythm and blues"), but there's just so little decent soul output these days (funk seems to be doing a little better).

Lee Fields is the superior old-school soul artist.

because it's self-limiting & there's not much worthy of note past '74
Blues is usually boring, funk is kind of cheesy, but soul is really cool
Sadly there isn't much good soul these days but I have a feeling, and I'm hoping, that the genre will be revived soon
A lot of my sheep rap friends think Redbone by childish gambino is one of the greatest songs ever
could we even fill this?

all stemming from country blues.
"Country Blues" being a slow marriage of Christian Hymns, African Vocalizations and rhythm, and Appalachian (irish) folk traditions.
