Jon Gibson - Two Solo Pieces
Philip Glass - Solo Works

The only thing I've heard from Glass is Glassworks but my god is it incredible. It really blows me away every time I hear it. I've gotten into the habit of blasting it on my stereo when I do listen to it. I've listened to it with over the ear headphones but the music is so powerful when on a stereo.

Anyway, I recommend any Steve Reich and any Terry Riley and Instrumentals by Arthur Russell.

I know I don't know. I'm a fool. I listen to a shit ton of music which is kind of a problem in some respects. But I'll get to more Glass. I still haven't even heard everything by Reich even though I'm a huge fan and own several collections of his on CD.

I don't respect people who never even listened to Einstein on the Beach

recently wrote a paper on some minimalism related stuff and the research i did introduced me to some great shit.

for more philip glass i recommend Solo Piano for something similar to Glassworks, as well as some of his soundtracks, like Mishima and In The Upper Room. Also definitely check out some of his operas, or at the very least Einstein on the beach.

You'll probably Reich too so check out Music for 18 musicians, and Music for a large ensemble.

I think these are the most entry-level minimalism albums but if you enjoy the genre i strongly suggest exploring it further

david borden--- he uses synthesizer to make minimalist compositions like glass.

i know its common to use synth for minimalist music terry riley, laurie spiegel, pauline olivieros, eliane radigue, niblock, behrman, etc... but borden uses the method of highly melodic repeated motifs like glass repeated and overlapping with counterpoint. its deeply moving and beautiful synth music that never gets cheesy or too try hard... hes my favorite minimalist composer sonically (not in terms of respect for artistic achievement that would be reich or la monte young)
