That song starts with three instruments though

pic related does that a lot

Ghost notes on guitars (just strumming with no actual notes or anything)
When drummers hit the rim of the snare as well as the snare itself, making like that high pitched wooden sound.

They're really specific and I don't really know how to describe them. Dunno

Yeah I guess that's what it is, but I love it when it's incorporated into the drumming more than just being a single hit. Like ,a pattern of its own.

the concert film Stop Making Sense does exactly this, albeit adding one instrument per SONG over several minutes, as opposed to adding them all up in the course of a single song.

t. watched Stop Making Sense cold in a theater for the first time ever a few weeks ago. I was impressed.

>a few instruments start playing
>basic melody build-up (or just a short break)
>suddenly the bass starts taking the lead
>tension starts ramping up
>bass keeps going in the forefront
>proceeds to dominate the song until it comes back to normal

I love those moments. They get me pumped.
