Are these guys worth checking out or am I wasting my time?

Yep. Some pretty good to great albums especially their debut. I like be the guitar work. They wear their influences on their sleeve but they keep it interesting. Halfway between the Ramones and Television.
first two albums are solid. their other albums definitely have some good tracks on them but are hit-or-miss.

Is This It and First Impressions of Earth are worthwhile, but you kind of had to be there when they happened to appreciate them.

/thread have fun OP. I'd love to hear the first two albums for the first time again.
They're worth listening to just because of the massive impact they had on music that came after them for good or bad, in a way they were sort of the nirvana equivalent of the 2000s
wow I had no idea they made that big of an impact
I'm going to go through their albums on a playlist starting from the beginning
first 2 albums were great
anothony fantano used "is this it" as an example as to "no, you aren't born in the wrong generation"

I AIN WASTIN NO MOORE TIIIME
Like most other anons said, the first two are where they shine. The guitar work, Julian's vocals and relatable lyrics are cool. If you listen First Impressions of Earth after those two, you'll love half of it (mostly first half). The last two records are stylistically different and not in a good way. You can skip them, just don't skip the final track of Comedown Machine. Also listen to the Casablancas+Voidz record.

Angles is my favorite album of their's but it's also the first album of their's I heard

Yeah. Pretty much the face of indie.

Angles is good too.
Someday, Reptilia, and You Only Live Once are songs that are nice to listen to when you're out on a drive. Makes me feel comfy for some reason
