This is more of a self-criticism, but to be honest, at 28, I'm a little too old for the lyrics and tone.
The instrumentation and compositions keeps me coming back, but good God its just so in that 20-24 phase that I don't look back on with reverence.
This is a strange feeling. Growing out of something without anything to keep me buoyant.

I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

Do you think this album is nostalgic? Why?
I'm not very familiar with the album
>muh evil government
>>71967509
Can someone explain to me exactly what this album brings to the table?
There's nothing really notable about the vocals. There are no Beatles/Beach Boys/XTC harmonies. No Adam Ant/Bob Dylan staccato. There's just barely a melody, but the sound waves look like fucking theta waves and, appropriately enough, they put me to sleep. He has no range like Morrisey or Freddie Mercury, he just sings in this monotone whine. By monotone I don't mean 'the entire song has one tone', even hipsters who glob to Radiohead couldn't find something interesting about that, what I mean is he tends to stay on the same note for long periods of time, and when it finally changes it he'll stick to the new note for a long period of time.
Good music, at least what has been confirmed on a neurological level as appealing, has recognizable patterns that shift every so often. It makes sense in evolutionary terms too -- Our ears have evolved to reward us when we recognize patterns, and also when we recognize disturbances in those patterns. This is for obvious reasons, keeping an ear out for prey and predators. Radiohead avoids this almost entirely. I'm not saying they're bad, but they're just barely acceptable. I can listen to it, sure, but if you ask me 'hey, how does that one Radiohead song go?' I'd probably struggle to remember a melody.
It's like these guys listened to the White Album, heard Revolution 9 and thought 'hey, people pretend this is a new frontier of music just because it was an experiment by an actual musician, maybe we could get away with something similiar?' Then they pushed the boundaries of what is acceptable in music and found this sweet spot where they don't sound good enough to be overwhelmingly popular, but they do sound good enough that hipsters who are repelled by anything popular can say 'hey, these guys are cool and I can pretend only I understand them when really it's just music that I don't understand'.
>>71977592
Oh, and don't get me started about the fans.
Five times I've asked 'What popular music do you like?' and five times I've had 'None, really. I guess the most popular band I like is Radiohead'.
They are legitimately mediocre musicians adored by an army of people trying so hard to be individuals they become indistinguishable from one another.
>>71977592
I can remember melodies from their songs. or is this a copy pasta?
>>71977592
>Our ears have evolved to reward us when we recognize patterns, and also when we recognize disturbances in those patterns
Basically Radiohead fans are genetic aberrations that only exist because we don't have a system of ethics based around natural selection.
>>71977684
I can remember Creep's melody. Which is a popular song for a reason, which they backtracked and claimed to make as a parody because it became popular. Like, honestly, they don't even pretend to be unassuming.
Obviously I'm using hyperbole, I imagine if you're a hardcore fan and you listen to them non-stop you'll be able to remember a melody. The point is there's nothing memorable about their songs unless you memorise them through exposure.

>>71976031
so this is why the album is called "OK Computer"
>>71971787
I think in a way it helps them feel valid with their tastes, it's like a disclaimer, if that makes sense?
I mean, I do the same thing when speaking a lot, most do, you sort of put your self down when sharing something, and it makes it honestly makes it better to share things. As an example, we say "My two cents" a lot. It's like putting down what you are saying, it's the same as saying "What I say holds little value". And when we can recognize that it can be comforting.
That or it's a new way to share your favorite music, and every one loves doing that.

yeah, it's one of maybe a dozen albums that I've called my favorite. right now it's the faovrite because I've mostly been listening to hip hop, and it has everything I want from hip hop while still carrying music inspiration that isn't hip hop (only other example I can think of is Wildflower). I love it as much as I love records like TVU&N, The Beatles, Electric Ladyland, Donuts and ITCOTCK.

It's just not a valid critisizm, if you are going to say something bad about your favorite album, it seems like you should bring a good crisizm to the table, not just make fun of one aspect for no reason? It's neither funny, nor interesting to read. It makes sense to me to hear people critisize what they love most, because generally it's going to have some substance to it, this just doesn't.

i don't think of it as putting down what you're saying necessarily. Finally, someone admits to liking it, Can't Buy A Thrill is a trucking stellar album and everyone knows it, yet no-one dare admit it because every granddad can sing along to "Reelin' In The Years", as good as Aja and Pretzel Logic are, this album is far catchier and features fine tunes such as Do It Again where the percussion is juicier than a Jamaican watermelon. I love you anon, on the scale of 1 to 10, you are a strong 9.5, this album though hits just around 12. Sleep well and see ya' later franko.

Another Brick in the Wall pt. 2 is okay if you start at the beginning of the album and listen all the way through part 3 and then skip to Comfortably Numb.
>>71986639
It was just a single they released before the album to hype it up for the radio. Pink Floyd was riddled by money-grabbing marketing by then, and they didn't give a shit about the musical integrity of their album.
