Albums simultaneously containing both the best and worst material that their respective bands ever created.
>>71956315
There's only one good 'daft punk" song, Stardust.
>>71956315
>>71956356
I have trouble listening to it since it's so all over the place. Definitely shouldn't have been a double album.
>>71956356
Oooh, I like this one.
Here's another:
>>71956408
I dunno, their pop era had some stinkers. Maybe if you count only Gabriel-era Genesis.
Prove me wrong. Pro-tip: you can't.
>>71956604
OK, here's the Collins-era analogue.
Mama, Home By The Sea, and Just A Job To Do on the same album as Illegal Alien and Taking It All Too Hard.
Tame Impala - currents
>>71956668
YES.
You Only Live Once is easily the best song that The Strokes ever recorded.
>>71956368
Madvillain as a duo made only one album together so it's pointless posting that, unless that's le epic joke or something.
>>71956686
Meant to add this:
>>71956717
On the one hand:
>You Only Live Once
>Juicebox
>Razorblade
>Vision of Division
>Ize of the World
>Red Light
On the other:
>Heart in a Cage
>Killing Lies
>15 Minutes
>Fear of Sleep
Worst: American Idiot
Best: Most of the rest of the album
She's A Rebel is the second weakest track on the album but it's not that bad
Best: San Diego
Worst: Literally everything else holy shit this album sucks
>>71956689
>>71956315
Those are the best albums in each of those artists discographies
Not memeing
>>71956315
THERE IS A GAME OF LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE
>>71956315
which tracks would you say are their best and worst?
>>71956717
Haven't heard this song in years although I used to be a die-hard fan. That. fluid. watery. guitar. sound
Nick's old guitar sound in particular sounds like fresh orange juice- so damn juicy
>>71957191
>Best
Touch
Doin' It Right
Instant Crush
>Worst
Game of Love
Give Life Back To Music
worst:
>crescendolls
best:
>literally everything else
>>71957257
game of love and give life back to music are so good baka
>>71957222
I know, right. I never understood the hype behind Is This It. You Only Live Once made me "get" The Strokes.
>>71957276
Aww but I like crescendolls
>>71957344
Me too.
>>71957344
>>71957366
ehhhhhhhhh idk dude it feels really cheesy compared to the entire album, more like some weird gabber idm shit
>>71956342
You're just intentionally being a contrarian now and I know that because you got the song title wrong
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zcb1ZN7Jo_4
>>71957456
desu I can't think of a single bad song on NLDW. It's not a perfect album as the songs aren't all perfect songs but none of them are at all bad.
I think a more applicable album for this thread by DG would be Government Plates. Two Heavens is one of the best things they've created while bootleg is, well, I've heard better in soundcloud threads.
>>71957048
>Best: San Diego
kek
>>71957276
wrong
>worst
One More Time
>Best
Literally gets better as it goes along then takes a decently sized quality drop when it hits Too Long
>>71957591
I think I can agree with this
>>71957746
Maybe my opinion of San Diego is higher than it should be because it is a gem amongst utterly, utterly shite tracks, but I think it's a real banger
I mean yeah it's vi-IV-I-V but whucare
>>71957669
Rhinestone Eyes, Empire Ants, and On Melancholy Hill are some the best material Gorillaz ever recorded.
Then, you have garbage like Welcome To The World Of The Plastic Beach.
>>71956315
Best: Doin it right
Worst: Get lucky
>>71957999
KEK APPROVES!!!
>>71957276
now you're just being contrarian. Every track is great except Too Long
>>71956668
pro-tip: i can
instantly came to mind
>>71958397
Yes.
Here's another one.
Agreed on the good stuff, but I don't mind Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach that much.
Sweepstakes, on the other hand, is trash. Not a fan of White Flag either.
>>71956724
You really missed the point here. Obviously their only album contains their best and worst material
>>71958466
>>71957947
oops forgot tag
>>71958397
eh, a couple tracks are just meh and a little quirky. Nothing is really trash per say. I think visions would be better for this thread personally.
>>71958466
It's more relatively weak and not up to the standard of the weaker stuff on their first two albums.
>>71956356
Came here to post this. What's really funny is that if you ask fans to say which songs are the best and which are the worst, there won't be any agreement. Some people say that Revolution 9 and Why Don't We Do It In The Road are some of the greatest songs they ever released, others rank them among the worst. Some people love the cutest stuff like Don't PassMe By and Honey Pie, others say they're just schlock. It's weird cause it's not just a very eclectic album, it's also a very divisive album. I think that's why I think it was a good decision to release it as a double album.
>>71957802
>>71958283
>not appreciating one of the greatest daft punk tracks
The worst is the interlude track
>>71958452
What song on this is better than the Neighbourhood suite or Wake Up or Rebellion.
>>71958516
Scream is her worst song easily
>>71958761
>Awful Sound (Oh Eurydice)/It's Never Over (Hey Orpheus)
>Porno
>Afterlife
>Supersymmetry
>Anything but the best 5 songs they ever recorded in a row.
It should beat everything you listed. I might have to give you Haiti, though.
>>71957257
The slow jazz / R&B songs are the worst...
>>71957669
You have songs like 5/4 Tomorrow comes today Clint fucking Eastwood Punk Rock in the house 19-2000 and M1 A1
And for the other hand you have Latin Simone and New Genius
An almost perfect disc
>>71959083
I wouldn't call it their best but it's some of their best, definitely better than Wake Up and Rebellion.
>>71956941
You only live once is the only good song on that album imo, and i would still take almost every song off of is this it over that song. I would even take most of the songs from room on fire over YOLO. FIOE is easily the most lackluster album in the strokes discography nearly every dong is garbage
>>71959543
Haiti, No Cars Go, and the good tracks off The Suburbs are probably their actual best.
But It's Never Over ---> Porno ---> Afterlife are all just as good and are easily the strongest progression they ever recorded.
>>71956408
>not Foxtrot
Can-Utility and Supper's Ready on the same album as Time Table and Get 'Em Out by Friday.
>>71957276
I do believe you meant
>worst
High Life
Crescendolls
>best
Everything else
>>71957276
The only bad songs of that album is Nightvision and High Life.
Crescendolls is amazing.
>>71959437
>ywn play that 3d gorillaz website flash game in high school comm tech class again
>>71959862
I know that feel, bro. Addictinggames.com kept me out of the ivies.
Like killing time on ebaums world after school in the science rooms when we were supposed to be working on Science Olympiad projects.
>>71956356
Fuck you, except for Back in the USSR, FUCK that track
Should be a single album
1. Magnificent 7
2. Junco Partner
3. Something About England
4. The Crooked Beat
5. Somebody Got Murdered
6. One More Time
7. Lightning Strikes
8. Police On My Back
9. Hitsville UK
10. The Call Up
11. Washington Bullets
12. Hidden Track - Version Pardner
>>71957456
I would say this or NOTM
I can't belive /mu/ turned on her. Kala is one of the best from the 2000's.
>>71958615
>tfw there are really plebs on this board who don't appreciate Too Long
>>71958283
GTFO
>>71958615
>>71959764
fuck off plebs, nightvision is beautiful and it should have been longer as well
>>71957257
add giorgio by moroder and motherboard to best, within to worst, and then you're perfect
>>71959718
>implying Get 'Em Out by Friday is anywhere even slightly near their worst material
>>71957591
still manages to be their overall best album tho
>>71960744
I feel like every song on that album was exactly 50%
>>71959994
Why do you hate that track? I love it.
>>71960798
>Best
>Worst
everything
Deja Vu, Beautiful, Careful What you wish for, Hello, Stay wide awake being the best, the rest is some of his worst along with recovery
>>71961427
Wrong way around friendo
That's their best album
Straight up
>>71957495
world of dogs is one of the only death grips songs i can say i really dislike
>Best
Paranoid
RoboCop
Street Lights
Coldest Winter
Bad News
>Worst
The rest
>>71960631
AnCo's best song is not Danse Manatee
Worst song maybe
>>71957802
this is the most pleb opinion i've seen on this board. i'm not joking
>>71960744
OMFG, this.
>>71960699
I meant to add Georgio By Moroder and [maybe] Motherboard, and I forgot about how forgettable Within was.
Probably because the mind-warping awesomeness of Doin' It Right scrubs Within from memory.
>>71960699
giorgio by moroder is by far the best thing Daft Punk has done post Alive
>>71956315
Houses of the holy...No Quarter & the ocean...then a putrid reggae joke & gag on James Brown
Prepared to defend
>>71963670
Touch still pwns it.
>>71963719
>Giorgio by Moroder
>nifty 2 minute intro by Giorgio Moroder
>Touch
>No intro by Giorgio Moroder
>not nifty
need I say more?
>>71959995
This
>>71963747
Yeah, but Touch's second half absolutely kills Giorgio By Moroder
https://youtu.be/XfH3erWacsQ
Skip to 5:00 to see what I mean.
>>71963837
Okay, just listened through again. I like Touch better now, but I still prefer Giorgio by Moroder. I don't think I get the emotion of Touch too well.
>>71958578
I like all of the songs other than Revolution 9, which I find boring and unlistenable.
Swapping it out for Hey Jude gives the album a climax before the denouement that is Good Night.
>>71960744
Exactly this. I'm not sure how this didn't come to mind before.
>>71959437
new genius is bretty gud imo
>>71961427
but Let it happen is pretty fucking great
>>71956356
The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as “the greatest or most significant or most influential” rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.
>>71963881
It's relatable for a lot of us 4channers with poor socialization
I'd compare it to wanting a relationship for so long
For wanting to feel a real human connection
Finally getting one
And then losing it
And ending up feeling worse off at the end of it all despite reaching never before seen peaks in the middle of it all
TL;DR:
It's a musical form of a NEET motto along the lines of "It's better to have never loved then to have loved and lost as I have"
I'm a different poster btw
>>71959437
>Latin Simone
>Bad
wtf are you on about
>>71959995
>>71963789
Fuuuuck you guys. My most unpopular musical opinion probably is that this album is gold all the way through. It's a way better than London Calling
>>71956315
>best Supernaut
>worst FX
>>71956315
RAM was a fucking abysmal mess of a shit fucking album. It's trash. They ended themselves with this shit.
>>71964273
Shit taste senpai
It's their best album next to discovery
And an easy 9/10
>>71964074
They probably are the most influential (or were), and as good as they were people still somehow, time after time, manage to overrate them. Thats the problem with them really. At the end of the day, taking a critics opinion with more than a grain of salt is stupid. What matters is what you hear. I think people that arent blinded by the beatles light can all agree that they stroke and blow smoke up their ass for all eternity. That might be objective
>>71961772
Essplode
>>71958367
I can't of a good song other than tap out.
>Best
pretty much all of it
>Worst
I knew you were trouble
>>71956668
agreed
shame really, redlight and razorblade are so good
>>71961110
Something about it really annoys me, and I like every other track, including Revolution 9
>Best
"Naomi"(probably my favorite NMH song), "Song Against Sex"
>Worst
Various tracks that just aren't up to par with ITAOTS and the best of this album
>>71957257
Forgot Lose Yourself To Dance as shit tier
>>71959831
Their worst material is in Pablo Honey though
>>71959914
I think you being a fucking retard was more responsible
>>71957802
>not liking too long
You transcended to a whole other level of pleb
>>71964891
Actually they should've posted ok computer
Good
>Everything
Except
Bad
>Fitter Happier
Feels. The worst tracks are daffy duck and flesh canoe. The rest are some of ancos best
>>71957669
Sweepstakes ruins the album for me. I'd overlook it if it wasn't so long compared to the other tracks.
>>71959831
>>71964891
>>71965390
Come on, dudes. It's either picrelated or HTTT.
Amnesiac:
>Pyramid Song, I Might Be Wrong
>Morning Bell/Amnesiac
HTTT:
>Where I End And You Begin, There, There, Wolf at the Door
>Backdrifts, Sit Down Stand Up
