holy shit this is like the perfect mix of shoegaze and metal
I'm pretty sure it's alt-metal/nu metal but whatever
>>71949070
but it does mix shoegaze and metal regardless of being labelled nu metal. alt anything is pretty vague and meaningless

Is it nu-metal? It doesn't really have any hip hop influence.
Any more albums like it? Not Deftones though I've listened to the discography

nu metal is like a mutt mix of hip hop, groove metal, industrial and post grunge so its pretty vague. The riffs are pretty groove influenced and stuff like back to school is very hip hop influenced
They get more shoegaze in Saturday Night Wrist, Diamond Eyes, and their other later albums. They were more heavy and "nu metal" esque in their previous two albums, Around the Fur and Adrenaline. Deftones is cool, man.

HUM is a good choice for heavy shoegaze. Would suggest starting with You'd Prefer an Astronaut.

this is the album where they stopped the nu metal shtick (besides that stupid version of Pink Maggit the studio made them do, I guess Elite comes close too)
it's pretty much post-metal from here on out

Maybe try Angel Dust by faith no more
people saying nu-metal are either ignorant or trolling btw
nobody blends shoegaze and metal like Jesu. listen to this:

OP, listen to this man, You'd Prefer an Astronaut was a direct influence on White Pony's sound, the guitar tone will scratch your itch

I love this album so fucking much

these guys are playing a shoegaze/alt metal hybrid with a lot of deftones influence. a lot more gaze than metal though
