The very same Bach who said Rameau was the best? Hmmm really makes me think.
>>71935173
Source? Besides what does it matter what Bach himself thought?
>>71935532
Bach was influenced by Rameau's development of the contrepoint very much so.
>>71935843
That doesn't mean anything, rock musicians who are better than the Beatles are influenced by the Beatles and have called them the greatest band of all time

Even their contemporaries claimed Rameau was the best composer out of them both. Rameau started composing at like 50 and did a lot of very high quality work. He was a machine. He developed musical theory and even Euler said he was great at it. Fucking Euler. Even outside of his operas, his piece de clavecins are some of the best and most complex. It was said about him that in one of his operas there was ten operas worth of music.
Chopin

I heard that Gauss preferred Bach
Bach. He perfected fugal craft in a way nobody else could -- WTC and Art of Fugue are phenomenal. Not a single wasted note, as the late Glenn Gould would say.
What are the measures of objectivity? How do we, as subjects ourselves, determine these measures and interpret the outcomes of these measurements in a fashion that can yield objective results?
It's Liszt, btw
>>71938009
Never heard of that. Euler held a correspondence with Rameau.

So by your logic, Handel and Vivaldi are also better than Bach because they were more popular at the time.
>>71938112
Vivaldi is the chickflick of classical music.
>>71938979
Handel stole the works of others, like Lully, and is in every way inferior to Rameau, who is the end of all music.
>>71933271
Sebastian Akchote. Any post saying otherwise is wrong.

Further proof that Mozart is underrated.
liszt beethoven and mozart are tired in my opinion
