>>
>>71935593
>>71935587
It's the reissued pressing they're currently selling on their site in white vinyl, picked it up from my record shop a year or so ago. The amount of surface noise on the whole thing is obnoxiously bad, I don't know if it's something wonky brought about by colouring the vinyl or what but it clearly stands out above the production of the music itself.

I've found Flenser in general does a shit job with their pressings, one of the copies of the Giles Corey LP I recieved had substantial warping on both discs . Thankfully they fucked up and accidentally sent me two copies of it while only charging me for one, so I dumped off the dud on discogs.

Debating copping the Giles Corey box set from there.
>>
>>71935754
Well F#A# is in total 1 Hour 3 min.

LYSF is a double and is 1 Hour 27 min.

That would leave one side left open of the second disc what would be put there? Maybe like a cool etching I guess idk
>>
>>71936012
They did that with Horses in the Sky vinyl. Might be cool.

Not sure if Kranky wants to release it in vinyl, though, up to LYSF their focus was to release it in CD.

yeah totally. Very weird lineup on that album though. Phil on guitar and vocals and songwriting obviously, but Jason Anderson on guitar and Kjetil Jenssen on drums who plays in a hardcore punk/post punk band. Maybe Jason was the one on drums? Either way it's a weird album with a weird lineup but it's very good. Makes sense that the material is so heavy though.

Not him, but after approximately 2 minutes of googling, I came across an interview Dan did with Noisey where he talks about losing the masters to Deathcon.
Losing the masters to Deathcon lead to the use of whatever the fuck quality files to record it on vinyl.
It's pretty much common knowledge that the quality of Deathcon is shit b/c he lost the masters and had to make do with whatever he had left. Whether that was pressing it from the supposed mp3 files he had left, or using the CDs.
You could probably find the answer yourself if you looked harder than me.

Here are my most recent pickups. This is going to take a few posts. Any old album is an old pressing of some sort. The Slade, Elvis and Beefheart LPs aren't original, but they're definitely not recent reissues.

BTW, if you're buying a recent reissue of anything that came out before the industry switched to using DAT-sourced masters, you're probably wasting your money. Anything that came out from sometime in the '80s until now is probably cut from a digital master, but at least recent reissues of those have the potential of being sourced from a better digital master than what they were able to do back then. BEst example I can think of: I know the band Jawbreaker made a point of letting people know they used a higher sample rate for their 20th anniversary LPs than they were able to for the original issues, because DAT can only do up to 48k, whereas the digital audio files plants are able to accept these days can go much higher. I hear there are plenty of pressing plants these days that can't even do 100% analog mastering anymore, so always keep that in mind. And that's not to mention the overall lack of quality control that seems to be running rampant over the last 15+ years.

More recent pickups, part 2.

You know that Shabazz Palace LP? That right there is an example of the lack of quality control you see these days. Side 2 of off-center, and the sound gets distorted as the needle gets closer to the center of the disc. This is shit pressing plants figured out how to deal with decades ago, by the way. The only time I see those problems on old LPs is when they're coming from shit-tier-for-doing-business countries such as Italy or when they're put out by independent lables. These days, even major label releases aren't guaranteed to be safe, though indie labels (such as Sub Pop, who have no excuse for this given how big they are) are still terrible for this in most cases I've seen through the years. That said, I got lucky that the Mastodon, HSY and ASM records in this pic aren't garbage. Can't remember about that hot Kid, though.

Even more stuff, part 3.

If you're into the kind of emo/post-hardcore made by people who don't sound like they were up all night sucking dick, I recommend checking out that Blake album if you can find it. The band is from Canada though, so good luck hunting them down. Also, that Tight Nun record is yet another example of shitty quality control. The only reason to buy anything from the label Art Damage is if you intend to support the band.

More, part 4.

A vast majority of what I'm posting today comes from the last record swap I went to. It's one thing to find a guy with a treasure trove of old punk/hardcore records, but all of those finds were spread out among various sellers. This usually doesn't happen, because most sellers carry 100% dadrock. What was even more surprising was finding that Yaphet Kotto album there at all. Also, I really wish I found the first Blasting Concept comp instead of the second.

Finally, part 6.

I damn-near shit myself when I found that Dirt Bike Annie 7". What makes it a better find to me is the fact that it's on the same colour vinyl as the one Dirt Bike Annie LP I own, Show Us Your Demons (great power-pop album, by the way). That John Trubee - Blind Man's Penis 7" has some neat history behind it. John saw an ad in a local newspaper for a company in Nashville who would record whatever song you sent to them ("Earn up to $20,000 in royalties!" -- assuming you had a hit, of course). So he wrote a bunch of fucked up lyrics and sent them in expecting to get rejected, but instead got a reply saying they wanted to record it if he was willing to pay the $80 fee. So that happened, and they sent him the tapes when they were done. He only even intended to play it for friends and hang on to it for his own amusement until Craig Leon said he would help him get it mastered. The original pressing was a private/vanity sort of thing, and only 200 copies were made, but it became such a cult record in NYC that it eventually got reissued with a different b-side (which is what I have here). The write-up on the back detailing this story was penned by none other than Matt Groening from his days as a columnist for a small-time music publication. The b-side a fucked up prank call, like Jerky Boys or Longmont Potion Castle on heavy psychedelics.

It's a great release. Totally destructive sounding. Phil has done some legitimately heavy music on Black Wooden Ceiling Opening, Wind's Poem, Ocean Roar, The Glow Pt. 2, some outtakes of his are also very heavy like (Wind Lyrics). I love all of that fucked up distorted material of his. It's funny whenever someone asks about Phil's intentions with that music, what he's trying to "emulate" he always seems very dismissive about people's claims and is just like "I wanted to make something sound big." As far as metal goes the only groups I know that he's interested or draws inspiration from are Xasthur and Ulver, which are two bands that I like a lot.

Shit pressing
>>
>>71925664
I personally found the Badmotorfinger reissue to be underwhelming. It does sound better than the CD, but only slightly.
>>
>>71932962
I wish there was a good pressing of Tarkus.
>>
>>71970989
Did you give the Ultramega reissue a listen yet?
>>
>>71925430
how much did you pay for the whole order
>>
>>71958782
Is that what the original Ozma cover looks like? Those black borders around it?
>>
>>71971990
it's the 2-in-1 Boner reissue from a couple years ago of Ozma + Bullhead. they also reissued Eggnog + Lice All together
>>
>>71972070
>it's the 2-in-1 Boner
Fuck that made me laugh. Cool collection, anon. I don't own any Melvins records yet but that'll change
>>
>>71932962
Best S&G song ever.
>>
>>71972111
heh nice 1's. wasn't that anon but i have a pretty decent size melvins collection. they recently reissued houdini, stoner witch, and stag making them easy to find when they used to fetch for triple digits

Overpriced as shit. But being the faggot that I am, I bought it.
>>
>>71981449

Yeah, if you give a fuck about the colors, just get the standard black, it's a no-brainer.

I like colored vinyl as much as the other guy, but paying more just for the color is a bit silly.

Just started collecting a few months ago.

Off the top of my head, I have:
> Vampire Weekend - Contra
> the Black Keys - Attack & Release
> Qotsa - Like Clockwork
> Pearl Jam - Ten
> Cage the Elephant - Melophobia and Tell Me I'm Pretty
> Beck - Odelay
> Gojira - Magma
> Royal Blood - Royal Blood
> Deafheaven - Sunbather
>Slint - Spiderland

I think I have one or two more, but I can't remember.
