I've picked up Autechre - Amber recently, and a pack of Diskeeper 2.0. They're okay, but not as good as MoFis. Next time I'll buy those again.

Also expecting in the mail Panda Bear's Young Prayer and The Caretaker's Everywhere at the End of Time.
>>
>>71886283
it was a remastered thing I saw in my local store
the "official hendrix family remaster" or whatever
I've been looking for a new copy since my original got warped to shit and i had to replace
I'm probably just gonna go back tomorrow afternoon and see if I can cop axis bold as love
>>
>>71886321
I've heard a lot of bad things about those remasters. Did you listen to it before returning it?

Best of luck, man. Axis Bold As Love is my favorite Hendrix record.
>>
>>71886395
it was good, they advertised as "all analog remaster with original tapes" but considering those probably got the shit run out of them over the years it's hard to expect the original depth they used to have

they usually have some pretty great stuff at the place I go so im hoping a used original will cough itself up in the new arrivals (used) shelves tomorrow

Flea markets are nice
>>
>>71891925
whats your success rate? do they let you pull the record out of the sleeve to inspect it? i'd be afraid of getting a dud (mostly duds) or just badly damaged covers and records in general
>>
>>71891950
If a flea market won't let you inspect a record, don't buy from them.

Hell, if a shop won't let you inspect a record, then don't buy from them.
>>
>>71891950
>>71891994
Pretty much. Most of the time they won't even care if you look at the discs. It's encouraged, it makes sure you're not buying anything too scuffed up or faulty. I once mistakenly purchased a copy of Pet Sounds that didn't have the disc inside because I forgot to check. You should always check the discs at flea markets and thrift stores, you don't wanna accidentally purchase something without the disc inside, or with a disc that's too beat up
>>
>>71892123
>>71891994
how about open air flea markets during the summer? i'd be afraid of the damage they'd accumulate by sitting outside even under an awning for hours or even repeat days.
>>
>>71892123
Also make sure the correct disc is inside the record. You have no idea how many times I've found a record I've been looking for only to see that the disc inside is something else.

On the other hand, good things can come from this. I once found an original disc of The Velvet Underground & Nico inside the jacket of some old piece of crap local gospel group at a Salvation Army thrift store.
>>
>>71892147
If you have doubts, just ask them if it's cool to check the record. I would assume there are no issues in doing that, but like I said, if they won't let you do it, just don't buy from there.

It's pretty much a given that 90% of shit you find in those places is either destroyed, or religious/local albums that are of no interest to you. Just familiarize yourself with what a good record should look like, and see if what you find in the flea market is similar. Don't buy scratched/warped records unless they're extremely cheap, look out for dirt, check to see if the cover is holding up pretty good etc...
>>
>>71892250
>religious or local albums
thats my shit hombre
>>
>>71892147
Yeah, they do. They're usually about 4 bucks or less, and you can always haggle your way down if you tell them there's some damage on the disc (did that with the Van Halen CD). Buying albums from a flea market (especially an open air one) is usually more of an "I don't have this and have been looking for it, here it is for a dollar" type of thing, rather than a "this is a huge collector's item, here it is in mint condition" type of thing. You won't find most of these albums in mint condition or anything. There's a very big chance you'll encounter dust, scratches, scuff, stains, smudge marks and grime on whatever it is you purchase from these flea markets (and again, especially open air ones, which is actually where I got my stuff). Inspect everything (without making yourself look awkward about it, of course), make sure everything looks good and doesn't look too damaged to be played. There was a box set of Dark Side Of The Moon some guy had for 5 bucks, but it was beat to death and had parts of the case peeling off of it. Even at the low price of 5 bucks, it was too damaged.

But that's the good thing about most CDs. Most of the damage done to them in open air markets is just surface damage; simply wear and tear on the jewelcase. Often, the CD and booklet inside will look perfectly fine, with all that you'll need to do to it when you get home is simply replace the old and dusty jewelcase with a clean one, making that CD you bought for a dollar look nice and pretty. Vinyl doesn't have this benefit (I'm not a big vinyl collector to begin with, I collect CD, I bought Sonic Nurse so I can hopefully get all the members to sign it and frame it on the wall. It's in good condition!), but that's not to say I haven't found CDs that were treated like total smut and were sadly beyond saving.

Just buy at your own risk. Briefly inspect whatever you find that interests you and don't let them sell you the CD for a bad price. Not that it'll be more than a few bucks anyway

Guys I don't want to derail the thread here but I've got a question. What kind of gear do you need to transfer your vinyl music to your pc? My record playing installation is complete and my pc is also decent but I can't find which device I need in specific to achieve this transfer. Pls help :(

But what if I found some weird vinyl stuff that I can't find anywhere on the internet?
>>
>>71893275
in that case just record it with any mic. bad quality is better than no mp3 existing at all. i found this old great gospel record at an estate sale, signed on the back cover by the artist and everything. looked online and there was literally nothing about it, ended up dropping it on bandcamp and a few other places so people could hear it. check it out
