A new one. But with a TWIST!
This time the OP will hopefully try and say at least few words about all of the shares here. If you don't want my words about your stuff because you know it's garbage - write this in your post. And don't mix your feelings into it.

"Roaming Caves for Light" sounds so much like something I was doing five years ago (how the time flies). I see no interest in this split. Not only the mix on the first two tracks feels weak I also don't find it engaging to feel like I could listen to this without any problem what so ever. The second side by Melt is a standard electronic music straight out of Soundcloud. Nothing hits home, hi-hats are ruining track no. 3. This is "nope" for me as I can see how much these both sides don't connect with each other and, in general, it feels like
>(also Alt-Noise)
Truest of keks to you

>>71878392
I've already said my piece on you so I'll just do a short round-up here - the first half of the track is terrible, the piano sticks out more than contributes to the overall sound. The lyrical side I can't judge since it feels not for me. Although stuff like:
>You fuckin' with these dawgs then
>Be quick to flip a bitch
>You sellin' dope
>You not yo mama
gives me an instant laugh, don't know why. I would say "nope" to this, I would also think of making something different and much more interesting later on.

>>71878423
I like it. Even if it is just a very simple track. Nothing really to brag about, it's just cool. Way to slow to call it jangle pop though.

See, I have a one major problem with your release - how the hell should I listen to you? I mean, this is not bad, it's generic. It feels same-ish and not really recognizable. Adding tags that are dismissive of your stuff on your Bandcamp page is really a bad move as well, in my eyes. "Generic" is a word it comes to mind. I understand why you want to make a still walls of noise but my dude - stillness is good when it's executed good. And, to be honest, if you haven't told me about the fact that it was recorded in few months I would say this is a work of two, three days tops. Better mix, make it more varied, don't stuck yourself in this mud.

you mean sameness in the tracks or in the album, or both?
also what did I do wrong with the mixing back then are there some overpowering frequencies or layers?
also what is "Good stillness" for you?
>>
>>71879103
It's goooooood

>>71879168
>you mean sameness in the tracks or in the album, or both?
Both. I find that the release and tracks doesn't progress well into each other and at the end it feels like I'm listening to the same thing over and over which is not good
>also what did I do wrong with the mixing back then are there some overpowering frequencies or layers?
I was thinking more of the difference in variety. These tracks always has a low-end which is a drone, always has another high-end layer. Not much variety to speak of. Again, that comes back to my same-ish comment.
>also what is "Good stillness" for you?
La Monte Young who makes tracks that are basically a meditation.
Eliane Radigue is another good example. Consciously you, at a certain point, expect a change because it feels like it will go on. You don't have to look at the timer in order to see that it slowly goes forward and it doesn't make you nervous or just plain bored.
Stars of the Lid are also peeps who are doing this "stillness" thing right.

Futurist goodness, it's rather the type of music I'd listen to alone at night with my headphones or stereo system on low volume. The bass sounds really delicious, especially on the first track. It's too minimalistic to be anything ground-breaking, but hell... when I want music to lay on the ground and sob to at 1 AM (and I won't find my Bohren albums), I'll keep you in mind.

Good to hear that there are some different structures and tones on this release. I like well-layered noise and it's getting there, but it bumps me a bit off in a few places. Is it good? Can't tell, it's noise mate. But I do look forward to that more melodic stuff.

This is partly by choice, the only way i can be sincere in my music is if i embrace my autismalism and roll with it. But listen, if you can listen to all of it and then post a reply, even if it takes till the thread 404s, that would b cewl. ill be posting it in every thread for atleast a week, then ill leave everyone alone, Thanks OP for listening to all the albums, i will be too, looking for someone i would like to soundtrack my movie when i finish it. so ty.

>>71880928
I think I've heard it before. Not bad guys!
>>
>>71880996
>vocals need some work

yeah i get that sometimes, but then other people say they like them, so i'll just keep practicing and trying to improve. Im def getting better though if you go back and listen to older stuff. Its just now we are more pop oriented and feature more vocals so its easier to notice. I also put less effects on them and mix them higher now

glad you think we are a good band tho
>>
>>71881204
Fuck. I meant that they should def need some better mixed on the tracks, not that they are themselves bad. Sorry for the misunderstanding
>>
>>71881224
Ahh alright, well I do need to improve still. How do you think they should be mixed differently?
>>
>>71881313
Good question. I guess I would try something along the lines of recording the voice and the instrument at the same time so it doesn't seem so isolated from the rest of the sounds ot the track. It's quite hard for me to guess which way should be the best one, a bit of experimenting would do just fine. Or maybe some few advice from the professional mastering/mixing dude/dudess. Or maybe I'm just deaf lol, you may never know at the end
>>
>>71881376
With our new stuff I'll definitely put more attention on gettin the vocals to blend more and be warmer within the music. More distortion could def help. I run them through analog fuzz pedals so I could get it super warm and vintage
>>
>>71879672
>it bumps me a bit off in a few places. Is it good

>>71879726
>liked the first track, the new stuff youre working on sounds interesting ill try and keep and eye out
Thanks, I'm hoping to start recording on the first track or two tonight if I'm not too tired.

I like what both bands have going on what you posted, the biggest issue is that sometimes the production quality or lack thereof detracts from the impact. Definitely some good material that I think would benefit from being recorded a little better
>>
>>71882107
Fuck, ignore the "is it good" in the first part I quoted, I didn't mean to highlight that too
>>
>>71882107
>but it bumps me a bit off in a few places
i.e. I wish that you could go harsher in a few places. At times tracks intensifies to something which ultimately is a bit of the same. And also I kinda wish this was a bit more layered. Not too much mind you, just a tiny bit more. Idk, just my thoughts about it

I love all the bands mentioned in your FFO. Expected to be let down, but your music is pretty cool. More pop-oriented than those bands, but that's not a bad thing. Even in the short first song alone, you introduce a lot of dynamics while maintaining the pop sensibility. Great! Pausing for now to listen to other people in this thread, but will be happily returning for more of this.

>>71880928
Really like the guitar tones, very soothing. Wasn't expecting the shift around 30 seconds into Helix. Musically this somewhat reminds me of The Guru. Not crazy about the lyrics/vocals; they work, they fit, just not my thing. Jumped to the second song -- love the instrumentation. That's where you guys shine, in my opinion. Also for what it's worth, I like the vocals more in this song. Keep it up!

>>71882228
Twenty seconds into the first song and I can dig it already. The song develops in a way that I did not expect. I question some of the decisions but I admire the adherence to the rhythm and the overall sounds and tones used. This is cool music but slightly exhausting to listen to. I'd imagine that's what you're going for, though, based on the aural assault going on. It gets a little too spastic for me, but you have a unique sound, so kudos!

>>71883150
I can definitely hear the similarity to AnCo in the vocal delivery and rhythms. It might be a little too similar of an homage for my tastes; for something like this, I'd rather just listen to AnCo. That being said, I really like the tone and arpeggios played around 1:00 and onwards in "Kemono." You have a good taste for sounds and arrangement. Very cool and your music will only benefit further as you further develop your own style!
