If we're talking about tube amps yes it fucks up with the frequency to make your headphones sound "better" (hence why tube amps are such a meme), but a regular GOOD amplifiers (aka Objective 2 or the Schiit Magni) will just do it's job and make your high impedance headphones louder (aka bring them to a listenable volume)

All depends on a number of factors. Is your receiver/amplifier a good make? If you're using it for playing records, do you have cartridge, tonearm and turntable? Do your speakers match your amp?

Very happy with my Fisher 400 Receiver, better than a later solid-state amp that I had. Lot more power to push the speakers (Fisher on the left, Akai on the right.)
