Did a quick chord transcription of this,

Cm G7/D Eb C/E Fm G7 Ab G7#9

Dunno if there are any theory buffs in here, but trying to figure out where that C major in first inversion comes from. The rest of it all fits pretty squarely into C harmonic minor, but not sure if that C/E would be simply considered borrowing the relative tonic or if there would be a better way of analyzing it.

I've been playing guitar since like the 5th grade, except the last couple years I have been really slacking.
So I hope on Ableton and try putting something together, turns out that I've completely lost all ability to play alongside a metronome.

Is the best practice to gaining my rhythm back just playing along a metronome? Because I swear like it SOUNDS like I'm playing on beat, but when I check out my recording after the fact I'm playing very slow (like my notes are coming after the beat).

pic related is me trying to play a major scale
>>
>>71869367

>>
>>71869686
>playing literally random shit

Explain what's "good" about it.Even if you genuinely enjoy it there's no reason you couldn't just do the same thing yourself at home. There's no need to go see that douche play in a fucking museum what my autistic cousin could play in his garage with the same set up.
>>
>>71869613
Check your latency and delay compensation.

What hardware are you using to record? Seems consistent enough that it might not be entirely your fault.
>>
>>71869758
That's like saying there would be no need to go see your favorite band live just because you learned all their songs and could play them yourself.

>>
>>71869758
I like to listen to the stuff my amateur friends play, too. Even if they are noodling. I mean, amateur musicians at an art gallery goes back to the velvet underground, and that whole movement.
>>
>>71869758
I'm still listening to this guy after 12 minutes. I bet if you posted a video of your improv I would have turned it off by now.
>>
>>71869813
>>71869786
>That's like saying there would be no need to go see your favorite band live just because you learned all their songs and could play them yourself.

Uuuh, not at all actually. A band performs their songs when you see them. It's a distinct group of players playing a distinct set of songs. This guy is just playing random bullshit. It's so mundane and indistinct that it doesn't matter who's playing it.

I could sit at home and play Louie Louie but it wouldn't sound like any of the various artists who have played it in the past.
>>
>>71869832
In a way. I would definitely do what he does if I had the chance. If I could get payed and be given admiration for noodling and playing with random effects that would be a wonderful job. But the fact that people would actually go out of their way or be in awe of it is stupid as hell.

In fact that guy didn't seem to happy to be there, I wouldn't be surprised if he feels the same.
>>
>>71869910
Post a video of you playing with pedals for 50 minutes. I bet it'll be far worse than this and you're too shit at guitar to realize why.

:^)
>>
>>71869910
>But the fact that people would actually go out of their way or be in awe of it is stupid as hell.
congratulations this is your first day as an entertainer, revel in it
>>
>>71869872
>I'm still listening to this guy after 12 minutes.

That's because you're a feeble-minded simpleton who thinks the fact that he's playing in a museum means what he's doing is special.

I could easily make a video doing the exact same sort of thing he did in that video but you would shut it off because it would just be a video of me playing in my apartment alone, not in a museum with spectators.
>>
>>71869947
Prove you're better than this guy.
>>
>>71869936
>Post a video of you playing with pedals for 50 minutes. I bet it'll be far worse

Once again, what is "good" about his "fucking around with pedals? There's no objective quality to be found with this sort of random improv bullshit. Of course you think it's good when there's literally nothing he could do that would be "bad". You can't fuck up when there's no precedent of quality to live up to and you're just winging it.

>>71869958
I wouldn't dare waste my time for reasons I've already explained. I could post the most impressive random bullshit improv of all time and you'd call it shit. And you would be right.
>>
>>71869910
Y'know, I think you guys are overreacting to this. Just because there's a YouTube video of this guy doesn't mean anybody's in awe of it or even impressed. It's just some interesting guitar shenanigans. I mean, admit it, if you were there you'd at least take a look for a while.

It's like the guy playing some song with wine glasses. Nobody's jamming out or anything, but that doesn't mean it can't be a bit of fun.
>>
>>71869767
an m-audio fastrack, 186 ms of input, 85 of output, totalling 271. I may have fiddled with it since that recording.
Is that too much? How much should I aim for and at what ratio in/out? I'm at 0 ms for driver error compensation.
>>
>>71870000
Maybe. Like I said, I don't blame the guy for doing it. But the fact he's playing in a museum and the whole way he just barged in and then left without saying a word comes off extremely pretentious. Either the guy takes himself too seriously or it's just part of his schtick to get others to take him seriously.

I will admit I'll take that over mindless Blues noodling any day.
>>

>>71870074
NICE ASS FRUITCAKE
>>
>>71869980
I've heard similar stuff before. There is a 'precedent of quality'. I can hear an attention to tonality in his work. As soon as you talk about objectivity in music you kinda out yourself as a pseudo-robot.

Have you checked out any of this guys other stuff? He can clearly play (as was apparent from the original clip as well). He understands his instrument and timbre.

If you can only appreciate 'traditional' technique then you may as well fucking quit. Guitar has been 'solved'.
>>
>>71869936
>I bet it'll be far worse than this and you're too shit at guitar to realize why.
>implying it takes actual talent to play like that
>>
>>71866451
He played that before it Fender had a jag bass and i believe its just a random custom shop piece.

Too bad AvA ended up shitting the bed after the first album.
>>
>>71870015
That's a quarter of a second. Of course it's going to sound out of whack.

I think anything more than like 20ms is VERY noticeable when you play.

Reduce your buffer until you get CPU spikes or weird crackling and distortion and then increase it a bit just to be safe.

Are you using ASIO drivers?
>>
>>71870088
Sounds like you're just enjoying the "way" he is playing and not "what" he is playing. Sure, the guy handles the instrument well. I'll give him that. It doesn't make the notes he's playing any good.

And no I'm not familiar with his other stuff and I don't doubt that he could very well be a great player. There's just very little pointing toward it in that performance.
>>
>>71870129
So you admit you can tell he knows how to "handle the guitar" and that you don't doubt he's a good player solely based on this video.

Yet you claim anyone could play the same sort of music successfully with no talent?

Contradiction much?

Ausfag here.

Shop fucked me over and sold me some trash with a crack in the neck near the headstock. According to their returns policy, since it's been 7 days since it was dispatched (took a fuckin week to get here) and I've opened it and touched it they can't offer a return and their warranty only covers it if it actually ceases to function (i.e. actually snaps).

Even after a proper setup, I have to play really lightly or I get fret buzz towards the end of the fret-board and I'm sure it's because of that crack as the frets are dead level.

Took me 3 years to save up for this damn guitar. Now I'm fucked. What do

You have several options

>1. Smash guitar
Say it cracked and get it fixed. I doubt this will work.

>2. Get a job
What the fuck do you do where it takes you 3 years to save up for something htat I can only imagine is fairly midrange at best. You didn't buy some LP Custom or PRS trash did you?

Holy shit that part makes me feel devastated. I'm so sorry anon. Is it a bigger shop like a chain? Or is it just some small local place? I've been fucked by Guitar Center in the past and just bitched to their customer service til they fixed the issue.

Best case scenario get them to fix it for free or replace it. Worst case scenario pay to have it fixed.

How much was the guitar?

>>1. Smash guitar
Yeah I thought about that but even if it breaks legitimately they could just say maltreatment, improper storage or some bullshit like that voided their warranty. They are the kinds of people whod do that I reckon. Fucking hell. There are very few decent guitar shops in australia. I've heard big music shop is good though.

>>2. Get a job
I study full time, a degree that gets more worthless by the day. No jobs anyway, all the pensioners here are snapping up anything left right and center, the unemployment in this town for younger people is 29% or something.

It was just some cheap ass epiphone anyway.

>>3. Start a patreon

>>71871254
I called legal advice, he said as long as they offer some form of reasonable way to return the item they satisfy the requirement of australian consumer law and because no clear guidelines are defined it can't really be disputed because they met all requirements. Thing is, they were supposed to send it express which only takes about 1 or 2 days, so that would have got here in time for me to get it and organize a return, but they used a shitty courier company and they fucked around for a week so it was then outside the returnable window.

I won't be using them again, although I guess that's not a big loss to them because the last guitar I bought was about 8 years ago.

Pretty much what this guy said >>71871205
>Yeah sounds like bullshit standard australian consumer law strikes again.

>>71871256
We don't have guitar center here in australia. It is a pretty big store that deals online nationwide. We don't have any guitar stores here locally apart from some dumbass who thinks $1500 for a mexican standard strat is a good deal. I would have gotten one of those strats in the blink of an eye because they feel great but they are like $900 from this online store and I didn't have that cash and couldn't stand waiting around another year or so to save that.

$699 on sale. It is a white custom. It was the same price as a standard. They usually go for $800 here. I am wondering if that is the reason it was on sale because now they aren't on sale anymore. I dunno.

I don't have facebook. My mate did that once with an optometrist who said he needed all this laser surgery and he went somewhere else and they said they would have wrecked his eye if they did that. He complained on facebook, they went so far as to remove the whole review system completely.

Anyway, I've already called them multiple times to try and get different people and I get the same response pretty much so I don't think it's just one asshole who works there, it's just their shitty company policy.

Maybe it's one big conspiracy and they just wanted to get rid of that guitar, maybe they didn't know, maybe it happened in transit with the shitty courier. Who knows.

I was thinking of putting flatwounds on my guitar (currently using roundwounds). I heard somewhere that flats will have higher tension than rounds of the same gauge. Currently have 10s on, should I go for 9 flats? Want to avoid touching the truss rod if possible.

It actually sounds like you're pretty close.
Rule of thumb for bass EQ is that low bass isn't heard by the ears so much as inferred by the brain from all the harmonics going on. So double the frequency you want to target and adjust there.
For example, if you wanted to make the low E (41Hz) sound bigger, you'd look to boost frequencies around 82Hz and so on.
Maybe cut a couple db around 250 then add back a db of overall level to bring your sound back into balance in the mix. That should do what you want to do.

First things first: Where on the neck is it buzzing?
If low down the neck, a truss rod adjustment will be more effective. If higher up, raising the bridge works better. And if the frets are really worn around where the buzz is, you'll need to level the frets.

No one will care.
All kinds of people have all kinds of everything.
I have an 18" scale Ashbory bass with silicone rubber strings. it still sounds great.
The only thing that matters is what's coming out of the speakers.

No Bass or Vocals yet and still needs a ton of mixing, but how does this sound for PodFarm used as the amps?

Ayyyyy, and pretty good setup there. Personally not crazy about those acoustics, but I think Taylor just made me picky about wanting crispyness in my acoustics, how's that Zoom?

Yep, he sure is a hack.
All he's ever done is produce shit.
Such as:
>Run-DMC's Raising Hell and Tougher Than Leather
>the Beastie Boys' License to Ill
>Every Slayer album since Reign in Blood
>RHCP's Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Californication, By the Way and Stadium Arcadium
>Danzig's first four albums
>the albums that revived Johnny Cash's career
>System of a Down's Toxicity
>Audioslave's debut album
>Mars Volta's De-Loused in the Comatorium
>Adele's 21
>Metallica's best album in over 20 years, Death Magnetic
>ZZ Top's best album on over 20 years, La Futura

You're right. Total Hack.

All you need is a Root, 3rd, and 5th, For C that's a C, an E, and a G. You can do 3 on A, open E or 2 on D, and then 3 on high or low E

Considering that they're different chords, both are.

Also, you can let all of the strings ring in that shape if you want to.
It'll still sound ok.

They aren't humbuckers nig, I think they are noiseless strat
>>
>>71878349
By looking at the diagram and realizing that you're NOT supposed to mute it.
>>
>>71878410
Noiseless pickups have a second coil to cancel out the noise, making them effectively a humbucker in a singlecoil sized package.

My amp isn't picking up one of my guitars, any idea why?
>>
anyone else usb interface start making loads of noise after an hour of plugging your guitar in?

it's quiet as can be, but then after a while it just decides to pick up terrible noise.

pretty convinced it's a time thing, it always happens after an hour or so.

Try it with all your pickups, if still problem, take the back plate off your guitar and clean the wires around the pickups, this happened with my pxl10 and that's what fixed it

i can notice it picks up hardrive activity for sure, but the hardrive doesn't go all the time.
so i thought maybe the fans turn on but nope.

i had a load of fucking issues with this thing crackling due to drivers and wireless cards, but it works good enough for an hour then shits the bed.
>>
>>71878583
it happens for me too, just quickly nudge your Asio driver's buffer and go back to what it was. just to reset the buffer

>>71878678
it happens to me too when its fucked up
are you using asio4all if you dont have a interface?
>>
>>71877192
ah youre just mocking fuck you
>>
>>71878791
I usually turn all programs off and than change the buffer from 512 to 1024 and it seems to be ok
>>
>>71878583

That happens to me even before the guitar is plugged in because I have mine ALWAYS plugged in to a port in the back of my computer, so a lot of heat is going onto the thing from the back. If I plugged it into another port (if the other ports worked) and with a new cable it probably wouldn't be there.

>>71878961
unplug the interface and plug back
>>
>>71878972
>>71879078
hm nope tried both of these, still there.
i have no clue what it could be, and why it only happens after an hour.

i've been coping with the noise reduction component in guitar rig 5 which is great for this lol.

but the crackling is only with my guitar, i don't think it could be a problem with the actual guitar?
>>
>>71879173
