What's the verdict, /gg/? Who wins between amp sims?

Also why are the only videos comparing these in Spanish, Portuguese, or Japanese?
>>
>>71852214
I mean, if you were to be nitty-gritty, strata are better balanced and have contours, so yeah I'd have to agree. As far as versatility goes, at least the telecaster has two different pickups instead of 3 of the same.

Continuing the G400 discussion from last night...

I've had one for fifteen years, although it was my first guitar so it's not been played for a while. Ended up looking at it again because of this thread and I must've had a good one (which is rare for a mass produced lefty guitar - QC is always worse on leftys) as the fretwork is excellent on the neck.According to the SN it was either made in 1986 or 1996 and I've had it since 2003.

Wiring was a shambles on the pots though as I remember having to re-do that myself. Being a fifteen year old I put JB/Jazz SDs in it which was a massive improvement on the stock PAFs. I was playing through an old Vibro Champ at the time... they used to be so cheap until the fucking internet memed them into being as good as point-to-point boutique tube amps (which they're not, but that's another matter).

I really should sell it because it would go a long way towards getting a new amp.

I didn't even think about stuff like contours and balance... I guess that would count. I don't notice it personally.

Man do I love the 2 different pickups on the tele though, so you're right on that one. The neck is so warm and the bridge kicks ass.

I prefer the tele but the strat is more versatile sound-wise in my mind.
>>
>>71852287
Forgot to mention. Strats normally have the trem while teles normally don't. That gives them an edge as well.

>>

Explanation depends on additive or subtractive colors. So basically, the idea that either white or black is not a color is wrong.

Mix a ton of paint together you get black. Mix a ton of lights together you get white.
>>
>>71852732
Listen here you little shit, if you're saying white is a color that's akin to saying the sound a snare drum makes has a pitch. Sure, it'll have more or less high / low end but you can't pick a single frequency and say that's the pitch of the snare drum.

>>71852748
>>71852750
What's your point? If you're a visual artist (how can you even afford a computer?) then white is the absence of color, i.e. still not a color.

if any of you are looking for a mac demarco sound using a boss gt-100, i just found a neat trick, just use the tape mode on the delay pedal and set effect level and direct mix to maximum (100% wet), high cut to flat, feedback and delay time to min.
essentially mutes your normal sound and only plays the delay, but since latency is only 1ms and volume is the same nobody can tell.

also works well with reverse/mod mode
>>
>>71853432
...We were purely talking about versatility though?

I already said I like teles better.
>>
>>71853592
You can get some nice jangle by putting 100% mix on spring reverb, and similarly minimizing other parameters. I don't have a gt-100 but this should work. Currently using an older zoom unit. Putting that sound into an amp with a lot of gain gives a decent shrill punk soloing tone.

it has 4/8/12 stage and biphase modes for the phaser (whatever that means) and these knobs. they sound good but i dont know much about phasers so i dont know if it's enough for you. the looping isn't really that great, you can record a loop and overdub as much as you want but that's it. basically the stuff you care about the most is the stuff it can't do that well. i can recommend it to you if you want a shit ton of effects for little money (basically the price of 2-4 decent pedals). but single pedals always allow you to go a bit deeper
>>
>>71855827
What's it like with the step rate option on? Step phasing is pretty important to me so if it could do that well it could easily beat out me picking up a PH3 alongside other effects.
>>
shielding prevents hum noise to what extent?

does it prevent from noise if the energy is not well grounded?

>>
>>71855857
>>71855767
by the way, the official user manual lists the included phaser as the "PH-3". it should sound pretty much exactly the same.

http://cms.rolandus.com/assets/media/pdf/gt-100_training_guide.pdf

since you mentioned 3 boss pedals the gt100 is the obvious choice.
>>
>>71855920

https://youtu.be/TDuonqjXm14?t=7m24s
https://youtu.be/lK2R8XxBsGo?t=5m49s

That's probably the most rounded set of examples I can find.

>>71855944
That is very good to know then. I'll likely pick up the rc-30 or another looper seperately if the overdubbing and loop length of the 100 don't quite go far enough, but for everything else effects wise it could be perfect for me.

just chose a random patch and added the phaser and went through the 4 modes in random order while changing the step rate. first clean then with some OD.

it also features the dd-20 in that list which is the dd-7 with more features i guess? not sure about that.

anyways, the link i sent you is from the old firmware i believe, there are actually quite a few more features now.

I'm basically just running a clean boost into the front and an MXR 10 band EQ through my effects loop in my amp (all tube) and turning down the volume about as low as I can on both volume and gain on the pedal. The result is tube drive at low volumes, and it sounds really good.

my question is: I'm basically attenuating the volume through the preamp tubes. is there a difference between that and actually using an attenuator between power tubes and speaker (in terms of sound)?

just the same for me, m8
I use exp and elixirs on everything and wipe down every single string with dunlop 65 string cleaner after playing and I still need to change the exps every other week and the elixirs as soon as the coating is scraped off somewhere (I use pretty hard picks, so that's like once a month).
so when I'm not practicing an awful lot or playing lots of gigs the cost is about the same as for a normal sweating person playing ernie balls or so and changing a bit more frequently.
the string cleaner really helps with them feeling fresh for a pretty long time but not with the sound, as soon as a string is 'exposed' it gets dull pretty fast and the treble strings on the exp just die anyway after a week
>>
>>71856704
I'm going to check the 7 string version out the moment it arrives at a store nearby.
I'm looking for a good meme guitar that doesn't look like one too much, the pickup caps are retarded but I guess I'd be fine with that.
the only thing that worries me is the price, the pickups are already almost a 1/3 of the cost of the whole guitar so I hope the rest of it isn't too sloppy

I had the black one as my first proper guitar. They're very nice, the neck is slim as hell and the neck joint feels like it's not even there. The pickups are correct for the price. My only gripe was the bridge. Those floyd rose like licensed bridges are just the fucking worse, especially if you're a retard like me and don't set them up properly. The knives got so worn out the thing would stay down if you pushed on it and up if you pulled on it.
Try it before you buy it obviously.

Priming it gray right now. Then gloss black in about 30 minutes, then gloss laquer.

I had to strip the guitar for several reasons. One is that I had to repair the shattered neck joint seperator in pic related, the other is that Im putting an EMG81 in the bridge and I have to swap the electronics for that. The old HSH pickups not only sounded bad but were passive and I can't mix them in with the EMG, and buying another EMG for the neck and single coil slot would be a waste of money and pointless. I only use the bridge PUP.

TL;DR: I had several excuses.

All that's missing is the long hair I had back then. Was fun but god damn, did my toan sound like shit back then. I used to think distortion was distortion and the more the better, because it's a tool for covering up mistakes and allowing you to do pinch harmonics / dive bombs and sound doesn't matter, and who plays chords anyway?

On a stock Jag the switches are pick up on/off and one bass cut switch.

The top switch engages the rhythm circuit which is a slightly warmer/woolier circuit with the neck pick up only. The rollers are tone and volume for this circuit only. This ignores all of the other controls allowing you to have 2 different configurations.

In other words all of that shit doesn't do anywhere near as much as you would expect it to.

Is this MIA Strat bridge legit? I've been looking at a used Strat and I want to make sure I'm not getting a fake. The serial on the headstock claims the guitar was built in the early 90s.

but why wasnt5 it still a good thing despite that?
>>
so to make a chord sequence,
i pick a key,
get the scale,
then follow the 2 5 1 or whatever pattern?

and for actual chords (like major, 7, sus2 etc..) i just chose whatever i think sounds nice?
or is there a pattern for this too?

I made an octaver VST today. It's modeled off of how analog octave pedals work. It has 4 independant volume knobs for dry, +1, -1, and -2 blend/mix. Similar to a FoxRox Octron or an analog'd EHX POG. Reply to this post if you want me to put it up on Mega.nz or elsewhere. It is a VST2 via a .dll file. I'd love for people to try it out and give me feedback on it. Run it into an amp sim and you're good to go.

It's called "morana".

how do i make a new string sound old when i replace a broken string

asking this here instead of googling it so we can max the thread
>>

>make a new string sound old
play with it
or slather it in stuff that makes metal rust
>>
>>71863472
I'd tell you to just play it but this is /gg/
>>
>>71863472
I haven't found a good way, and I hate new bass strings. Honestly I haven't even noticed much of a difference whether I play or just let it sit tuned up. I will say a good policy is to slack it a bit and pull up from the bridge saddle to stop it from stretching unevenly or binding. With some strings that binding can really kill your strings quick.

im not talking about the slack, im talking about the brightness. and im currently 1/2 thru the standard cycle where i would usually change strings and i dont wanna replace the whole set.

its just one string but i am highly autistic
>>
>>71855401
ibanez is wankery nonsense, but if that's what you like than i have no objections. also, Floyd Rose meme
>>
>>71863745
so play it so it rusts
that affects the brightness

Do you at least know the diatonic chords for each key? You should know that.
>>
I'm trying to learn to play the guitar from written music at least fairly fluently. (I can already sight-read well for the piano.)
Any recommendations/books for how to approach this?
Ideally, I'd be able to play at various locations on the neck, not just in first position.

Best way to make my Strat sound more like a Tele? I was thinking of putting a Tele bridge on it, but I'm not sure it'd fit without modifications.

Which is technically correct? I always played the first but noticed my friend uses the second with his middle finger on the A string
>>
>>71864663
It would need modifications to fit. You could try just putting some sort of focusing plate under the bridge pickup.
>>
>>71864709
I always play the second way, but I think the first is technically correct.
>>
>>71864709
They are both equally correct

Is a buzzing sound normal for tube amps ? I have a randall 45 with a randall 112 speaker but thinking about returning them because this buzzing is triggering the fuck out of me. The noise is always present no matter if i plug or unplug the guitar.
>>
whats a good entry level bass and amp? I want to make music out of my sad poems with a slow tempo.
>>
>>71864709
Both are correct. A G major chord is made up of G, B, and D. If you look at the difference it's just switching between the B and D. Both are technically correct.

The first uses a D (the fifth of the G chord), and the second leaves it open as a B (the third.)
Both are perfectly correct voicings for a G major chord.
>>
>>71864810
No, they shouldn't buzz. Return the head.

It looks like a modern two point with Tusq string saver saddles, the offset saddles are a dead giveaway. It's legit.
