Here are the essentials
Also of note:
>The Rita - Thousands of Dead Gods
>The Goslings - Grandeur of Hair
>Adult Swim's NOISE comp. (pleb but listenable)
>WOLD - Screech Owl
>Coil - Constant Shallowness Leads To Evil
>V/A - Extreme Music From Japan
>V/A - World Record
>Deathpile - G.R.

Noteworthy Merzbow:
>Tauromachine
>Venereology
>Door Open at 8am
>A Perfect Pain (with Genesis P-Orridge of TG)
>OM Electrique (disc one of the Merzbox, listen to the rest if you're an absolute madman)
>Electric Salad
>Space Metallizer
>Noisembryo (be sure to read up on the Merzcar)
>Music for Bondage Performance (1 & 2)
>Pinkream
>Hole
>Hybrid Noisebloom
>1930
>Pulse Demon (duh)
>Merzbient
>Multiplication (with John Wiese of Sissy Spacek)
>Batztoutai with Memorial Gadgets
Amlux and Merzbeat suck but are easy to get into, other digital-era crap includes Dharma, SCSI Duck, Merzbird, etc... None of them are very good, but obviously form your own opinions of them, this is just the general consensus.
All the Merzbowris collabs are good and listenable
It's worth looking into the discographies of every artist mentioned, as well as
>Aube
>Puce Mary
>Händer Som Vårdar
>Whitehouse
>Consumer Electronics
>Vampire Belt (noise rock)
>Esplendor Geométrico
>Winterkälte
>Toshimaru Nakamura
>Ramleh
>Hanatarash
>Incapacitants

Record Labels to browse:
>RRR
>Extreme Music
>Tzadik
>Järtecknet
>Posh Isolation
>Susan Lawly

Sufjan Stevens made a noise song one time, it's a good example of noise without the nuance of an artist who's a noise artist by trade.
A couple of the above artists aren't strictly noise (some err musique concrete or other subgenres), but they typically share fans.
Don't post noise rock unless it's genuinely more noise than rock.
Album/artist/label suggestions for the pasta are welcome.

Now that that's out of the way, no entry-level noise below this point.

And lastly, only plebs EXCLUSIVELY /merzbowworship/, but only contrarians NEVER /merzbowworship/
Happy noiseposting.

Is there harsh noise made exclusively with guitars and shit? Like dissonant chords and lots of effects, use of feedback, etc. I want harsh noise made with traditional rock equipment.
>>
>>71856688
Sufjan's piece is mostly acoustic if I recall
The Goslings use real instruments, it sounds like really harsh shoegaze
That World Record comp has some acoustic stuff on it
Sissy Spacek has some stuff that isn't glitchy electronic noise, most of their stuff is extreme punk/grindcore
Some of The Gerogerigegege is like that too, albeit in a different style
Some of Merzbow's early stuff uses nontraditional instruments, but still not raw gear, OM Electrique has some drumming and guitar
Noise rock like Vampire Belt

Thanks duder!!
>>
How do you guys listen to noise? With your headphones?

>>71856688
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91qEa3NsUUg
>>
>>71857027
That seems to be the best way for me. I tried listening to The Goslings in my car and it was really overbearing, call me a pussy if you like. It might have just been how bassy it is.
>>
>>71857087
A friend of mine told me a similar story. After I gave him some Ben Frost record, he almost crashed his car while listening to it.

How would a patrician listen to his noise music though?
>>
>>71857027
>How do you listen?
With headphones or in my car. Fucked my ears up a bit when the Skin Crime retrospective was released since I had a constant couple hours of it for a week.
>>
>>71855712
That chart deserves a remake tbqh
>>
>>71859604
It could definitely use a revamp. Think it's weird that metal machine music is up there.
>>
>>71856688
Listen to the Hardcore version of "Vein" by Boris, it's essentially noise with metal instrumentation.
>>
>>71856688
Les Rallizes Denudes made some crazy noise and made feedback an essential part of their sound. Not really that dissonant because underneath that noise lies folk music.
>>
Someone recommend me the most brutal, abrasive shit out there

>>
>>71861962
Some of Sissy Spacek's work feels a bit more jarring than >>71862008 to me, though less because the sound is more abrasive and more the spastic style
Popfailure is incredibly harsh though, sounds like Pulse Demon with Masonna adding his Spectrum Ripper sound at times
>>

What are some other Power Electronic bands beside Whitehouse? Bonus points if they have extremely edgy shit in their style

np and nice trips. yeah i was excited when i found it..it scratched the itch for sure

Does anyone know of any noise as aggressive as this bit in this Boredoms song:

https://youtu.be/RRq7MPcn3RU?t=274 [Embed]

The utilization of vocals and instruments is fucking superb, and I don't know where to find any music like this.
>>
anyone know some noisy EAI/musique concrete stuff?
>>
>>71862751
have you ever listened to any Powerviolence/grindcore/hardcore punk?
>>
>>71862822
No. Most of my noiserock experience is post-hardcore with noise elements. Name any names?
>>
what's a good album to get into noise?
>>
>>71863202
The OP is literally a list of essential, entry-level noise albums. What do you want me to do, come to your house and listen to them for you?
>>
>>71861962
Incapacitants - As Loud as Possible
the title is pretty accurate
>>
/noise/ made a comeback? good to see you guys up and running again

never died, just got busy with work and with 2016's "poseur" posting, figured it was a good time to take a break. Seeing how things are now, maybe I could come around more.

>>71865171
hello Xern0n, glad to see you again.

Really digging into Manic Depression's discog.
quality "soft" harsh noise in there

How do you look /noise/?
>>
>>71865304
Were you trying to download PE against Communism?
Because I saw that cancelled in my uploads, I didn't cancel that (at least not deliberately)
If that was me, I'll start up soulseek and you can retry
>>
>>71865304
Well I started Soulseek up, if it was you, come and get it. Sorry if I messed up your download.
>>
>>71865230
This is very lighthearted/fun noise rock and while I've feel like I've heard a track like this before, I don't recall it and I don't think I should shoot recs at you blindly. Sorry mane.
>>71865304
are you the request anon? either way, good to have old anons around.
>>
>>71865341
>>71865450
nah it was a Red Forest Project Tape.
When I tried to search for it again, I couldn't find it.
>>
>>71855712
>Also of note:
>Deathpile - G.R.
is that really one of the albums you want to introduce people with?

also what does everyone think of the "new" Gerogerigegege (new as in from 2016)?
reminded me of LRD
>>
>>71865713
It's my least favorite out of them, but it's still good, possibly my 2016 AOTY
>>
How do I into Les Rallizes Denudes? I'm perfectly comfortable with noise of all calibers, I just don't know anything about them.
>>
>>71866445
>How do I into Les Rallizes Denudes?
I found them fairly easy to get into because of the psychedelic grooves hidden under the feedback/noise. drumming is good too
>>
>>71866638
Thanks, but I more meant if there were any good starting points for their discography?
I know literally nothing about them
>>
>>71866720
I started with Heavier Than a Death in the Family
>>
>>71866753
Thanks man, will listen
>>
>>71866720
i started with '77 live and it was a great entry.
>>
>>71866811

Thanks
