Not even the same guy, but how exactly is that a bad thing? Sure, not every rock band employed groundbreaking studio practices and had a forward thinking attitude, but that doesn't make their music not worth listening to. CCR for example had 6 classic albums in the span of just 2 years and while not groundbreaking they're very well worth listening to. And on the other hand, there's krautrock and zeuhl for example; boundary pushing and experimental genres, which are also worth hearing.
