Let me know what is not accurate, going to start adding famous events (woodstock, lennon death, etc) and the most influential albums of each 5 year period
>>
why no math rock?
>>
>>71805886
screamo is a shitshow, op.
>>
>>71805886
If you're going to call Sabbath, Purple, etc hard rock, you have to put them directly above heavy metal.

Put thrash metal directly adjacent with extreme metal, Metallica and Exodus predate Hellhammer, Bathory, and Celtic Frost.

Christian Death deserves a spot in gothic rock.

Prog metal goes back to the mid 80s with Watchtower, Fates Warning, Queensryche, etc, and shouldn't be put next to alt metal.

Black metal should be coming directly out of extreme metal, sharing half with death metal.

Emo should go back to the mid 80s with Rites of Spring, Embrace, etc.

Groove metal should come out of thrash metal. Grunge should come out of noise rock, punk, alt rock, etc.

Put Swans in no wave, not noise rock.
>>
>>71805886
The No-Wave section needs some work. :|
>>
why are the shapes so weird
>>
r.i.p. rock 1955 - 2012
>>
>>71805886
I just skimmed over 1980s and 1990s and all I can say is: this is wrong on so many levels
>Talk Talk in 1995, Modest Mouse in 2005, Arctic Monkeys in 2010
>The Talking heads
>No QOTSA in Stoner Rock
>2000s are filled with MTV-level shit
nice try OP but you can do it better
>>
>>71805933
>>71806078
>>71806156

Need band names

>>71806153

Thanks anon i wish someone with this knowledge got to me sooner

>>71806161

Shapes are just to keep bands in the same genre together
>>
>>71806308

>Kyuss(qotsa) is already in stoner rock

Opinion discarded
>>
once again the biggest complaint I have:

>noise rock
>1990s
> consists 100% of 80s bands
>>
>>71806308
The(sic) Talking Heads are already there
>>
>>71806357

They are all in the late 80's on this map anon
>>
>>71806404
oh my bad I take it back I was reading it wrong
>>
>>71806318
Screamo examples: Envy, Orchid, pageninetynine, raein.

There are errors in the pop punk area as well. I don't really feel like doing your homework on genres you seemingly don't listen to so just look it up.
>>
>>71806431

I was calling pop punk emo at the beginning of this, i dont listen to that garbage but i am putting it on because i know nu-males love it
>>
Just realized you put Cocteau Twins ahead of MBV, what the fuck.
>>
>>71806494

Is that really a "what the fuck" moment anon?
>>
>>71806545
Yes. They should be put at least back to 1984 with Treasure.
>>
>>71806462
>>71806545
itt a good concept ruined by a retarded metalfag

The Smashing Pumpkins should be under grunge, not alt rock.
>>
>>71807304
>>
Where is post-punk?
>>
>industrial starting in 90s
>bands are all industrial metal and ebm shit
wew lad
>>
>>71805886
I don't get how Gong and Caravan fit under British Invasion, but Soft Machine doesn't. If anything, Gong should be in Psychedelic Rock instead and Caravan be in Prog.

Also, like another anon pointed out, there's no 'the' in Talking Heads.
>>
>>71807442

>post-punk
Joy Division, Talking Heads, Gang of Four, The Cure, Siouxie & the Banshees

Anyone else for that genre?

>>71807487

Please spoonfeed me

>>71807505

will change thanks anon
>>
>>71807764
>post-punk
Pere Ubu, Wire, PiL, Chrome, This Heat, Mission of Burma, The Slits, Magazine, The Pop Group, The Fall

>industrial
Throbbing Gristle, NON, Monte Cazazza, Cabaret Voltaire, SPK, Coil, Nurse With Wound, Einstürzende Neubauten
Pere Ubu, Chrome and This Heat could possibly fit under industrial as well
>>
>>71805886
>Porcupine tree
>alt metal
wew
>>
Deftones arent usually considered groove metal
Put em either in nu metal or alt metal
>>
>>71807946

>Throbbing Gristle

I like the sound of them but would they really be considered rock music? I can change the name from industrial to Industrial Metal or something along those lines to avoid confusion

Also thanks for the post punk list

>>71807982

Will move it to prog metal instead

>>71808167

Yeah i fucked up it was supposed to begin the late 90's alt metal but i forgot to make it the right color ;_;
>>
>>71807946
most of those industrial artists you named weren't rock
>>
>>71808250
>>71808360
Industrial music was a product of Krautrock, post-punk and 60s/70s experimental rock in general. The instrumentation is more based around electronics than traditional rock band setups but if that disqualifies it then bands like Popol Vuh and Kraftwerk shouldn't really be included either.
>>
>>71807304
The Smashing Pumpkins fit the Alternative Rock label quite well.

>>71806318
No-Wave would be more appropriately stretched from the late 70s to the early 80s. No-Wave bands/artists such as Glenn Branca, Teenage Jesus & the Jerks, Mars, DNA, James Chance & The Contortions, and Lydia Lunch would be essential.
>>
>>71808250
PT are arely metal aprt from a few tracks
>>
>>71808447

>Popol Vuh
https://youtu.be/SwzTd3zE49E

>Kraftwerk
https://youtu.be/ry64e6SVQGs
>>
>>71808588

I forgot to mention that im only adding bands with at least 100k listeners on last.fm... None of those no-wave artists have more than 100k with the exception of DNA, which looks like because there are numerous artists with that name.... i can add them and Lydia Lunch though she is close enough

>>71808616

Im listening to their first album right now, sounds alot like DT, you dont think prog metal is a good spot for them?
>>
>>71808841
>I forgot to mention that im only adding bands with at least 100k listeners on last.fm... None of those no-wave artists have more than 100k with the exception of DNA, which looks like because there are numerous artists with that name.... i can add them and Lydia Lunch though she is close enough
Dumb arbitrary cut-off
