very, very good psychedelic post-rock mixed with gamelan, southeast asian music
best church album, kinda weird post-rock-y ambient art rock thing

The artist has some pretty amazing songs in other records, and I'd even go as far to say that my favorite tracks by him aren't on this record, but I think this one is his most solid one. I like it because the songs are pretty and sad, like, nostalgic.
(my fav tracks by him that are not in this record are Little fat baby, sea of teeth, one sweet day, sunshine, and others)

Pic related is stronger IMO
I don't know another album that can send my mind to a different place like this one.
Ambient/classical, sunny morning/french village atmosphere

Belle & Sebastian are an indie pop rock band, and they have a very calm but fun sound. They sound like autumn and spring at the same time.
My favorite tracks from the album(pic related) are:
- Waiting For The Moon To Rise
- Women's Realm
- There's Too Much Love
Never seen anyone bring this one up
>>71796490
if you're feeling sinister (another album by b&s) is definitely /mu/core, just because no one talks about that album doesn't mean b&s in general isn't /mu/core
>>71796392
cool
The Oils are one of the biggest bands in Australia, but I rarely see them mentioned here.

This album isn't talked about enough
>>71797506
But its talked about plenty compared to the thousands of great albums never posted.
>>71795684
This masterpiece.
It's actually listenable industrial deathgrips-y shit.
Reggae in general doesn't get enough love here

Saw link related in one of my film classes and really dug the soundtrack and found out it was one an album of similarly cool sounding stuff.

Anything Sade isn't really posted, beautiful vocals and the band was constantly on point. Impeccable, never had a bad album
favorite track from this album
She remains the elder god tier /mu/ waifu
I don't see a lot of love for Pram (and Broadcast) here. Maybe they aren't American enough.
Their first album is almost as good as Helium anyway, highly recommended.
>never any love for BRUK here
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_beat
A really obscure band, this album came out in 2003 but has a good late 90s sound.

Pram is absolutely amazing. I definitely agree people don't talk about them enough in here or outside of here.

Yeah, after it came out someone spammed the shit out of this album, then a week later everyone forgot about it.
>>71797866
This is my favourite album at the moment. It pisses me off that this website talks almost exclusively about third wave post-rock with the exception of talk talk
Not exactly an album, but still my all-time favorite summer hits. Reminds me of the best summer i ever had in 2015. I was about ready to kill myself, but i found a new purpose in life, and i've been living happily ever since.

Posting this since their eps and previous album were more known. Shame they couldn't make it back in the 90's...

hey, what's your new purpose in life? unhappy anon here

most of them... I thought it was the case for everyone.

I remember when everybody said this was the next album on /mu/ core
no love for the man
Apparently they're popular in Europe but never made it across seas. That said, I still know virtually nothing about them. They released 3 albums, an EP, and a demo that I found on their MySpace page from 2012.
Their is sorta reminiscent of Sonic Youth (the way they played their guitars), heavy on the distortion, and very gloomy.
I usually link the song, since it's the most immediate experience, but I'll also link the other songs from their discog (except their demo since I haven't uploaded that yet). My personal favorite is I Believe in You, since I feel that's their best one. If you want more Sonic Youth, then their first album is the way to go. If you want more of the same, then their third album is the way to go. If you want the midway between first and the second, then the EP.

This album is perfection, and it was made when Khonnor was 17. Think Fennesz but with vocals.

Bardo Pond
Yeah, all their post-2006 material is boring af, but the new album is dope.
Not as good as their classics but at least has memorable tracks instead of the psych-wankery they been doing this decade
My favorite album, simple folk songs.
criminally ignored masterpiece
>inb4 "love agenda" is better
it's not
>>71799959
Aside from Cherry Pepsi, this album is highly forgettable
who gives a shit you pretentious fucks
listen to what you like who cares
this stupid elitism bullshit is what killed this board. its been dead forever now
One of the best folk albums of the 2000s. Their other two albums, Strict Joy and the Once soundtrack, also deserve more love.
I'll make a chart for this occasion
I think all the albums in this chart are fantastic, and it's a shame some of them will never get their due
aka my "shill these more you cuck" chart
>>71800284
>Black Sheep Boy
I approve. You just reminded me that I have to listen to Hadestown sometime.
>>71800161
What killed the board is Constantly talking about the same 25 albums for years on end, with little variation depending on what has been released recently.
>>71800399
yes this too, but shunning new users for like an aphex twin record isnt gonna do shit but alienate and further portray /mu/ as a shitty elitist secret club 4 kool kidz
this place definitely needs more variation and people branching out in taste, but not like this
however; if waifu threads, kpop and shitposts were banned this place would be leagues better. i wouldnt mind a thread about a mucore album if its genuine discussion and not "i love you jesus christttttt : ^ D" bullshit
we should treat this place like /lit/ more
>>71800479
I personally never shun people here, but it seriously gets on my nerve when I see a "what does /mu/ think of mac demarco" thread for the seventh time that day.
>>71800479
agree with waifu threads
kpop fags never talk about music but you also never see them outside of their general ever so that's kind of alright with me. they only occupy one spot in the catalog at once.
>>71800161
what killed the board is not actually talking about music, but insteas letting your stupid fucking charts and graphs do it for you
putting numbers to everything, putting things in lists, etc
nobody cares how you rank every song on yeezus out of ten
and no, don't give me this shit that these types of things lead to quality music discussion, it very rarely happens. Most of the time you just get a thread full of images with a bunch of "my nigga" or "wow you're a pleb" responses to them.
good thread. i haven't been on /mu/ in a while so idk if this is posted much, but it was pretty much ignored when it was released.
tv girl - who really cares
basically really upbeat pop with some really good use of samples. kind of drops in quality in the later tracks but it's still worth a listen
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ox5ENW0CeAU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyBt5MMbISw
>>71800659
i think it was talked about a lil when it first came out, top 10 of 2016 for me
>>71800659
>>71800747
Yep I can only agree to that. It's amazing how TV Girl achieved some popularity without a label, only through people sharing their music.
I really love that album. Love the sampling, love the lyrics, love the mood.
When I ordered French Exit last year, only to see a week later that they made an offer of both albums for $30, I felt stupid. But when it arrived, it turned out they had sent me both albums after all, without me even ordering the second. These guys are the shit.
>>71800284
really great chart mate, listened into all the albums because Bluffer's Guide is my favourite album in the world, and ended up saving most of the others.
You're one of the few people who I'd want to get a trip on this board. I'd trust your taste 100%
>>71795684
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBK8CwTV6Iw
>Juicecore
>>71800510
agreed, at that point mods should be doing something about that. maybe 1 general discussion thread about a particular artist a day? i can agree that the daily 16 threads about loveless are irritating as all fuck.
im glad you arent shunning new users however, best to just let them explore on their own
>>71800539
kpop threads are just quarantine zones luckily, but the mere fact that theyre alone never fails to fucking baffle me
its practially an entire different board, i cannot recall a single disussion about music on there, ever.
its just a strange contrast from seeing various real music discussion threads and people just generally talking - to a thread with an assortment of webms of questionably aged korean girls showing off theyre asses. i wished they were just moved to /b/ or /trash/ or some other shithole, seriously just nuke the fuckers
srry for getting heated, i fucking kpop fags
>>71801105
Thanks. I appreciate that. Guess I'll make a tripcode now, I MIGHT change it, but if I ever post a chart and some of those albums show up, it'll be really likely it's me. Where's an appropiate place to post under a tripcode. /daily/? the RYM threads?
>>71799287
>>71801824
yeah /daily/ kinda requires trips/names because you come back again after a while to rate things etc. Also I guess chart threads have a bunch of trips.
>>71801105
once again, I found most of those albums on here. The trick is to pay attention to how people respond when a new album is posted and the comparison made.
also, make sure to start following groups, use RYM, follow facebook groups, other people besides Fantano(not that he's bad, but someone like Deep Cuts could use more subs), use Spotify's weekly playlists, and actively find albums similar to ones you like, but lesser known. here's another chart I made. Ihaven't listened to EVERYTHING, but a good deal of it is great.
