whatdya listening to?
>>71781271
Nice. I have Future Days on vinyl as well. Hoping to get Soundtracks, Tago Mago, and Ege Bamyasi at some point.
>>71781295
i've always tried to get into can through tago mago and it always put me off. ege bamyasi i realize now is a much better starting point
>>71781271
>a whole bunch of krautrock and 1 phish album
Best taste right here
>>71781271
>>71781329
This looks so pleasant.
There's something special about physical media.
>>71781376
i like to buy stuff to get into it. I fell in love with laughing stock because of the drums and knew they were Can influenced. Been really diggin' the motorik beat.
I actually love early Phish but hadn't listened to that one yet. I fucking love Junta (top 50 albums for me) and Lawn Boy is so good

here's my collection
i just buy what i want (though i do like to buy essentials)
it is super comfy to just sit and listen to records
some records are just made for that medium
here's my FL's collection

may i assume you are into krautrock?

>>71782468
Lol what do you mean
>>71781271
Fug can't seem to ever find future days

>Don Can
My man.
You can get Future Days from Amazon.
>>71783190
*Cab. lol
>>71782510
It's not in print. Where did you buy it from?
>>71781329
But once you listen to Tago Mago enough, you'll realise just how good it is. Always find a new thing to love the album for every listen through.
>>71783190
Na I mean like an old 10 dollar copy and yea it's actually the original pressing so stoked I got it
>>71781329
Ege Bamyasi is the best start but Tago Mago is the best album
Also got Autechre's Amber reissue yesterday, it's pretty good.
>>71782468
my local record store had it.
i've had it for a couple years
>>71783270
my only really problem is the length of it but it's all due to i haven't listened to it enough
i usually find some part of the music to get into it. I'm planning on listening to it but i never have a enough time to finish it on my drive to work
>>71782468
>>71783217
you can also buy it from discogs

How's the sound quality on the reissue? Bleep is notorious for defective remasters (BoC, etc.)
Slowly building something up here.
>Actually buying new pressings of vinyl
I always chuckle when I see this on /mu/.
I picked up Hail To The Thief Special Edition from a charity store for £4. Is that good? I just started listening to radiohead
>>71785442
Autechre reissues are excellent. I have both Amber and Tri Repetae, I totally recommend.
Also my BOC reissues sound fine (however I do have the defective Geogaddi, but it doesn't bother me). I think most defects are gone now since Warp had recut them, but only guaranteed if you buy them through Bleep instead of any other record store.
>>71784650
Is that ATDI a gatefold? I didn't know they made those
>>71787770
Thanks for the input. I was thinking of getting Incunabula but held off because I heard some stuff about problems with TCH remasters. Let's just hope that the Drukqs reissue comes along soon to complete the warp trio.

Cool stuff man
just ordered a few things along with a vinyl preorder and amazon says they wont ship ANY of the items until the preorder item ships in may. is this normal or should i contact them and see if theres a problem?
>>71781329
>>71783270
>>71784243
thats not soon over babaluma
>>71786947
There's nothing like the first listen of a brand-new record, desu
But only new releases, I hate shitty digitally remastered re-pressings of classic albums as much as the next guy.
>>71789949
This is normal. Not sure about Amazon, but some stores have the option for shipping the already available products while still waiting for the preorder item.
>>71786947
>how dare people buy cheap rereleases instead of paying $100+ for a single record or literally luck into finding it in a record shop/thrift store
I bought way too many $1 records that i almost never listen to.
>>71790017
well I went with their "free shipping if you add items over $35 to cart" shit so I assume its probably to do with that. they won't ship two separate times because i cheaped out. I don't see an option of changing the shipping arrangement anywhere in the options.
Recent Sunny Day Real Estate pickup.
>>71790107
Though luck. Still, try contacting them.
how do you guys shop at a record store?
>>71790161
>step one: go to store
>step two: find a record/ records you want/ can afford
>step three: purchase record/records
>step four: ???
>step five: profit
>>71790161
I just shop online, because fuck going outside. I only go to thrift stores and record fairs, but only once in an aeon
>>71790161
there are literally no record stores in my area
>>71790218
>>71790249
yeah most of mine are thrifted, but record stores i just feel intimidated. idk when i'm getting ripped off or what i actually wanna get
>>71790161
generally you won't find what you're looking for for the same price that's online, so I just browse $1 bins and buy 6-10 meme records instead of saving up and getting one proper $25 record
that's fucking stupid, i know
Anyone else preorder the remaster?
>>71789993
>There's nothing like the first listen of a brand-new record, desu
Of course, you have to justify to yourself that overpaying for an album is some kind of magical experience.
>>71790043
>cheap rereleases
Kek.
>instead of paying $100+ for a single record or literally luck into finding it in a record shop/thrift store
Double kek. Maybe you should blame your record store for being shitty.
I laugh because you're falling hook, line, and sinker for marketing bullshit. For as much as /mu/ tries to puff its chest about how it's "patrician" compared to "plebs," you have the buying habits of plebs and hipsters.
You spend $25-40 for an album pretending that you aren't getting bent over and fucked in the ass by music publishers as they laugh their way to the bank, and what do you have to show for it? Tiny record collections that make it clear as day that you've only been into music as a hobby for a very short time period, further demonstrating how much of a pleb you are. Don't even get me stared on how blatant your CD collections make that as well.
I see these threads and I see people trying to show off paltry collections, as if the fact that they're buying brand new pressings of old albums makes them "true music fans" instead of the Johnny-come-latelies and mindless trend followers they actually are.
>>71791968
t. guy who keeps track of his files on discogs
CDs are more patrician than records and tapes desu
>>71786341
>dat rare can
>>71791968
i only buy records for the large cover to display in my home and to help pitch in and pay the artist that deserves my money. i rarely listen to them more than once. flac is where its at as far as listening goes.
>>71793235
>pay the artist that deserves my money.
Then you shouldn't be buying fucking albums, dumbass. The vast majority of profit goes to publishers and management. If you really want to support the artists you like, go to their concerts.
>>71790139
Is that copy of Dots and Loops the 1972 pressing?

I almost bought an unopened Ziltoid the Omniscient last week. Been digging this type of music for a while now tho

>>71784403
Melt Yourself Down is cool as fuck. Nice get. I also got Autechre's Tri Repetae which sounds great. Want to get Amber later on this month.
>>71786341
Fuck my ass you have spent a lot of money. I'm admiring that Can record as well.
>>71788244
SAW II is already reissued but not by Warp. The sound quality is decent enough but it's not worth the money they're asking for it.

Diary is the best emo album ever made imo. Great pick-up. I also got this record last week but just the black record version. Sounds amazing.
>>71801519
I know, but it lacks two tracks from the vinyl version, Hankie and Stone in Focus
>>71797929
I've heard some bad things about the 1972 label. Apparently the album was reissued without Stereolab's consent and was mastered from the CD source. I guess it wouldn't matter too much for an album that was already digitally-produced, but how does the LP sound to you?
why do people actually keep using the awful paper sleeves that most albums come with?
I swear does everyone on this board only buy reissues
Last few pickups 1/2
>>71801997
Picked up anthrax and sparks yesterday along with this nice grab for cheap 2/2
>>71801997

I am planning on getting Moondog, the FL's album, Jaco live, and possibly the Robert Johnson 3 LPs
i'm listening to Tago Mago now. Really enjoying Augmn. I remember listening to it when I was like 16 and not liking it and that's why I put it off. Really diggin' it.
here's the stuff i bought in January and February
>>71802409
>>71802797
Those Movmou, HANL, and Isis records are my shit.
>>71802921
Pneuma is never getting a repress so i ponied up and got it from discogs.
that DC is the 2011 repress and faggot dan forgot to include my book and i kept forgetting to email him about it. I bought another repress of it from the flesner and it had the book. great album though really unique
Isis I found at Grimey's in Nashville (it's only a two and half hour drive)
i've bought a lot of essentials from them. i always spend like $200-$300 there
>>71801498
I guess maybe up to $300 tops? I work at a record store so I get mad discounts. Got that rare can for 3 dollars.
>>71801521
>not loving grimes
>implying genesis on vinyl isn't god sent
Also friends like dad rock and got it for like a dollar piece for when they come over :-/
>>71801997
I mean, I'd rather have a 30 dollar new repressing instead of a shitty, tattered cover with some scratches for 75 dollars bc of "xD my rare original pressing"
>>71786341

>>71803019
What variants on Pneuma and Panopticon?
>>71794599

>>71802875
Nice /hip-hop/ pick ups!
>>71802409
Would love to get HANL on vinyl, can't find it anywhere locally.
>>71791968
I imagine you don't shop at chain grocery stores either because of "C-c-capitalism s-s-scary" mind set.
People are different than you and consume media, too? how terrible.
>>71803266
Panopitcon is black but Pneuma is translucent green. looks like it was pressed in 2010 by CYLS
>>71803272
is that a real loveless or bootleg?
love laughing stock
not crazy about swan or the other one
>>71803528
Is a real copy of loveless, 2016 repress.
>>71803424
Not that guy but HANL's debut Deathconsciousness was rereleased not long ago. I got it from their webstore.
https://www.discogs.com/Have-A-Nice-Life-Deathconsciousness/release/8971807
Talk Talk's Laughing Stock is my favorite album great pick. That MBV is a bootleg I'm guessing?
>>71803424
All good, but if that Loveless is a boot, I'd rather wait for the official reissue.
I also got Laughing Stock earlier this year, which version is yours? Some recent reissues are very hit-or-miss, but my Back To Black release is pretty good.
>>71802409
>Anima Latina
I'm jealous
>>71803528
Wow, a first press. Nice score.
>>71803553
Loveless was not officially repressed in 2016 and hasn't been legitimately pressed in years. That there is a boot. Fortunately Shields has been hinting at a proper repress for the last couple of years.
>>71803639
It's been already cut last year, not sure why it's taking so long. I mean, I actually do, they're working Kevin Shields-time
>>71803591
Not that guy but I got the Ba Da Bing! edition in 2012. Back To Black always sounds fine though so you should be good.
>>71803626
Those are a lot of boxes. How did you like the Giles Corey book which came with the record? Spooky stuff right?
>>71803613
you can probably make the connection of why I got that one. someone shared it in a FL thread a long time ago and I had to have it. Ordered it from Italy on discogs
>>71803703
>Ordered it from Italy on discogs
Haha that's amazing. And yeah, I see the album being posted more and more on /mu/.
>>71803699
i acutally enjoy the reading more than the album but i read it when i was into HANL about six years ago now
>>71803626

Probably because the god-tier paper/plastic hybrid ones are kind of pricey.. I don't think the paper ones are THAT bad to use
>>71817233
Some inner printed sleeves are alright. They're spacey enough so you can remove the record with minimal contact with the sleeve.
But the ones like pic related are fucking awful, they shed easily and can scratch your record even if you're pulling it out for the first time.
>>71810702
kek
>>71817251
Yeah, I'm not a fan of them, I wish record companies would use generic plastic semi-circle ones like they used to.. Do you buy hybrids and put your records in that? I know it probably works out cheap eventually, but dropping 100+ dollars to re-sleeve my records never seems like a great idea at the time, when I could use that money I buy more records
