All five tracks that have dropped so far are shockingly bad/bland.

Think about the memorable hooks, melodies, and sounds from the first three albums, and then listen to these tracks. Even Plastic Beach with its lackadasical tone had more memorablr chord progressions and lyrics than any of these songs.

Also the lyrics on Saturn Barz and Ascension, jesus christ, why did he let the features write such shit. And when Damon shows up he's just slurring into the mic, buried under an ocean of amorphous synths.

There's nothing to hold onto with these songs, and no amount of interest in the loose story of Gorillaz and its characters can help an ultimately bland album.

If you want to be accurate then only play one note. Work on your muting (preferably with your fretting hand). Use your slides sparingly, you don't want it going all over the place. You can play the C note on the A strong and F on the E string, or you can play them both on the E string for a heavier sound.

Even then it's not going to sound great because the original song completely cuts out any hiss you would get from distortion or fuzz.
