I am really sorry about the long wait. Had problems with my drive.

Y'all have my full attention now. We're making a chart for one of the most discussed genres on mu.

No limits. No bias. Anything goes.

All you have to do is say the year that the album belongs to.
Once the chart is full, swapouts will be done.

Let's do this, boys. Have fun.

I'm not even sure I understand what 70s metal is...

Always was an early 80s onward thing to me.
>>
>1970
black sabbath s/t / paranoid
hawkwind - s/t
deep purple - deep purple in rock
>>
>>71714073
I asked people yesterday and they all said to start with the 70s so...I did.

>>71714156
Added!
>>
Sir Lord Baltimore
Pentagram
Judas Priest
>>
damn thats actually kinda impossible since metal doesnt really start for me until the 80s except for sabbath
>>
>>71714235
Some guy lied to me with 70s yesterday

Who votes: Scrap this and do 80s tomorrow?
>>
>>71714248
oh fuck no, "impossible" is a really good thing.
>>
>>71714248
there will be a fair amount of repeats but i'll be bumping with what I have
t. >>71714156
>>
damn Motorhead had three albums in 1979?
>>
>>71713205
Black Sabbath
Judas Priest
Rainbow
Uriah Heep
Blue Oyster Cult
Deep Purple

This is pretty much what 70's metal looks like. Metal didn't really take off until the NWOBHM in the 80's but these are the bands that paved the way for the genre
>>
listening to Riot - Narita for my first time
>>
>>71713205
Why the fuck is Bowie there?
>>
>>71714611
encouragement to fill the chart so it can be replaced
>>
starting Zarpa now

Did they have the first gore cover? I'm probably forgetting someone really obvious.

Can anyone find a bigger picture or am I just missing something obvious again?
>>
>>71714611
Because I know dick about metal and I thought it counted.

I'm an idiot and I'm sorry :)

>>71714785
>Led Zeppelin
...They count as metal?
Huh....

Alright.
Adding your stuff.

During the 1990 civil action brought against the band, "Exciter" was played backwards in trial court. Lead vocalist Rob Halford demonstrated, when played in reverse, that the song appeared to contain the phrase: "I asked for a peppermint, I asked for her to get one."

Is this throwing the gauntlet down for the best of the three Motorhead albums in 1979? I'm not particularly familiar with them.
>>
We got some stuff here.
>>
>>71715191
you should add Zarpa

>>71714742

at least what I heard was pretty cool
>>
>>71715191
MODS
>>
>>71715235
If your complaint was the Scorpion cover

A: I dislike it too.
B: I changed it to the alt. cover.
>>
Cmon friends we got this we're not that far away.
>>
wtf the Jason Vorhees sound is taken from the end of Children from the Grave?

It also sounds like the beginning of After Forever was sampled for the beginning of Beat It
>>
or excuse me Children of the Grave

and Michael Jackson's Beat It in case that wasn't obvious

>>
>>71714785
>Budgie

I like you nigga.
You're my nigga.
>>
>>71714785
Add:
>1970
Lucifer's Friend - S/T sounds like darker Deep Purple in Rock

>1972
Night Sun - S/T. Uriah Heep on Steroids

Jerusalem (UK) -S/T. Sounds like Deep Purple leaning towards NWOBHM with occasional soom/stoner metal riffs.
>>
What's the fucking point, there are a million charts, lists, articles etc about this.
>>
>>71717823
>there are a million charts, lists
post one
>>
>>71717823
Right now it seems like the biggest point of contention would be if Led Zeppelin qualifies
>>
>>71717857
I'd classify them as being harder rock, rather then metal. But that's just me.
>>
>>71714248
>and do 80s tomorrow?
It should just be bands though. Like you shouldnt even list albums but maybe have 2x2 and if there's an important band with only one album you'd picture the album but just write the band. The 80s are way too massive to do this with albums.
>>
also I guess if the band had less than 4 albums then you'd have to pick the best one to picture. I assume squares of 2 and 3 aren't preferable.
>>
Sir Lord Baltimore and Iron Claw are the only real 70s metal bands I can think of
>>
>1970
Randy Holden - Population II
May Blitz - May Blitz
>1971
Stray - Suicide
Toad - Toad
>1972
Dust - Hard Attack
Hurdy Gurdy - Hurdy Gurdy
>1973
CWT - The Hundredweight
Euphoria - Lost in Trance
>>
Are there many other ones of these charts? I saw the jazz thread yesterday and I was pretty impressed. The modern ones in particular were pretty solid, most of my favourite albums from the last few years were on it so I figure someone with taste is participating in these threads.
>>
>1974
Bloody Mary - Bloody Mary
Nahuatl - Nahuatl
>1975
Baumstam - On Tour
One St. Stephen - One St. Stepehn
>1976

>1977
Boot - Turn the Other Cheek
Frigate - Dreams of the Deep
Butch - The Bitch of Rock and Roll
