Help me out, /mu/.
Turns out I thoroughly enjoy uber pleb entry level jazz (ie La La Land and Cowboy Bebop OST) and, while I like some /mu/-approved jazz records like Art Blakey's Moanin', the all time classics by Miles Davis and such don't have the same effect on me
Care to recommend something to make the transition from shitty easy jazz to the superior jazz?

Mingus
Some pretty easy listening in order of similarity to Cowboy Bebop to dissimilarity to Cowboy Bebop (haven't seen La La Land so can't compare to it):
Dave Brubeck Quartet - Jazz Impressions of Japan
Thelonious Monk - Monk's Dream
Charlie Parker & Dizzy Gillespie - Bird and Diz
Charles Mingus - The Clown
Dexter Gordon - The Panther!
Charles Mingus - Black Saint & The Sinner Lady
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
John Coltrane - A Love Supreme

Listen to Solo Monk by Thelonious Monk. City of Stars and Sebastian and Mia's Theme was ripped from there.

Listen to Dave Brubeck, literally the only Whitey who plays jazz that matters.

this
I also like entry-level jazz.
>Charles Mingus - Blues & Roots
>Charles Mingus - Black Saint & The Sinner Lady
>John Coltrane - A Love Supreme
that drum solo in A Love Supreme spooked me particularly, so I was real relieved when the sax and everything else came on

watch this and you might get a greater appreciation for Kind of Blue and the like.

Jazz music as a whole isn't worth the search for good jazz music. Try listening to ambient instead, it's the natural progression from jazz.

>Jazz music as a whole isn't worth the search for good jazz music
what a dumb statement that makes no sense
