ARE THE BEACH BOYS FINALLY GETTING MORE MATURE AT WRITING/COMPOSING MUSIC? WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT?
>>71694165
hey guys I'm writing an article about the Beatles, this is just a rough draft:
The fact that so many books still name the Beatles as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worthy of being saved.
did you guys like it?
>>71694236
What are you 12?
Fuck off and get some taste you contrarian.
Hi, My name is Kurt
>inb4 underage
herd the beech bois got a new bandmate mr manson or somethin? groovy
how do you go from this
to this
please tell me this is just a meme
I went to the Bronx to get some H the other day, some kids were talking some lines over James Brown records, it was weird
>>71694236
"the fact that" is always an awful line
needs a better intro
needs to at least mention jazz and classical once, including David Duke Ellington and Beatoven
doesn't acknowledge rock has already peaked and thus will never reach becoming "serious art"
4/10 not enough meme references
>>71694133
well it is an irish drinking song, i think.
Wow what an incredible year for music, I sure hope it doesn't literally peak right now, so soon.
>>71694406
memes are all we got
Hey, guys. I've been trying to get into a music interview gig for a few years now, and I've found a pretty good place, I think. They asked me to send a sample, and I brewed this up. What do you think? If I get in, I probably won't use this for about two years.
>The plus is because Peter Townshend likes it. This can also be said of The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. Beware the forthcoming hype--this is ersatz shit. D+
What is this computer shit.
>>71694236
i don't know, i still think of the beatles as cheesy teen pop ripping off r&b acts. i know their last two records were a little more adventurous but I wish they'd really let it all hang out, kind of more like "good vibrations"
>>71692067
Can't wait for hype to die down so it can fade into nothingness like the pointless edgy shit it is.
Have you heard of this guy? He's never going to kick off.
>>71694923
