Is he the worst major rapper in the game right now?
>>
Probably not. There are a lot of shitty rappers "in the game" as of late famalam. The identity crises going down in the genre is pretty funny to watch.
>>
>>71686980
Most definitely, as far as major rappers go. Only runners up are probably Big Sean and Hopsin if you consider Hopsin all that big.
>>
>>71687412
>The identity crises going down in the genre is pretty funny to watch.
this. I follow """the rap game""" not for the music (if you can even call it that), but because of the comedy aspect. It's like satire only they're being serious
>>
>>71687466
fedora
>>
Yes he's the worst
>>
>>71686980
There's much worse: Famous Dex, Yachty, Kodak Black, Rich the Kid, etc. He's actually pretty catchy, has a great ear for melody and switches his flows a lot.

>>71687462
Big Sean and Hopsin may be cringe-worthy occasionally, but they're not by any means bad. Still leagues ahead of all of these mumble rappers.

Like it or not, it's a complete shitshow.
Give me one major rapper that isn't a complete meme.
>>
>>71686980
He is just painfully mediocre, so mediocre that it is almost worse than if he were just a terrible rapper

Like I can understand some misguided person making a ridiculous song that's supposed to be experimental and have emotional lyrics and releasing it because he like it, even if it's complete trash to everyone else.

But it PISSES ME OFF to imagine this midget fuck recording any one of his songs, going back and listening to it, and just saying eh, good enough. It's like modern elevator music.
>>
>>71687549
You are half right with this statement. Yes, all of those rappers are more terrible than Uzi. However, Uzi does not have a great ear for melody and switching flows while monotonically slurring every word you utter is not an accomplishment.
>>
>>71687555
Chance the Rapper
Kendrick Lamar
J Cole
Joey Bada$$
Lupe Fiasco, etc.
>>
No, there are rappers that are far worse than Lil Uzi

Soulja Boy
Hopsin (not major mainstream success, but one of the biggest rappers in the underground right now)
Famous Dex
Lil Pump
Big Sean (not as bad as the others, but extremely boring)
Lil Peep
>>
>>71687549
What's your definition of bad though, I mean technically they are decent rappers. But, they both have horrendous lyrics, stale and predictable track (more Big Sean their admittedly) and they just don't do anything or have done anything to improve the genre.

Honestly though, Uzi is still worse.
>>
>>71686980
Yes

He literally can't fucking make a cohesive song. XO TOUR lif3 is the only song where he isn't all over the place.
>>
>>71686980
by worst, do you mean, best? maybe not the entire game, but for sure the best southern rapper in the game hands down.
>>
>>71687620
>Uzi does not have a great ear for melody

Manner of opinion I guess. Listen to Buy It, 7AM, XO Tour Life, and Woke Up Like This and see if you still feel that way.

>switching flows while monotonically slurring every word you utter is not an accomplishment

This is how I know you don't listen to his music much. He doesn't really slur that much in his music, at least not as bad as Future or Thug.

>>71687621

You're right in saying I don't listen to a lot of his music. I'll give those tracks a listen and see if it changes my mind. I think Future on his own is complete trash, but Thug is just so damn interesting and he seems to craft up pronunciation entendres while slurring his words so in my mind he gets a pass.

>>
>>71687651
Bad = Shitty lyrics. But if you're catchy or have a good flow, it makes you fun/bearable, but not necessarily a good rapper.

Having all three (lyrics, catchiness, flow) is ideal, but lyrics for me means most since that's what the rapper is contributing most to the song.
>>
>>71687719
J Cole is only a meme to white KTT hypebeasts desu.

>LOL IT'S NOT LIT SENPAI
>>
>>71687767
Yeah, Future is fucking terrible. How he gets a pass is beyond me. Literally the definition of low-effort music.

I agree about Thug though. Jeffrey is such a banger.
>>
I'm jokin' on the fact that hip hop has gone freak show / Don't let the drama get ya in the only genre of music where the fans shoot the messenger
>>
>>71686980
No. Uzi can actually spit, he just decided to take his music in a pop direction.

See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_xLVzVEyD8
>>
>>71687809
How do you feel about Rick Ross? He has lyrics, catchiness, and flow, but somehow it just doesn't resonate. I feel like rap music is a lot more intricate. You have to live your words it seems. A lot of these new guys are essentially runoff from the post-ironic movement in art. I'm very worried about the state of the game. This is a very slippery slope.
>>
>>71687621
Joey fell off for me especially with the that victory track. Is he still good?
>>
>>71687947
>He has lyrics

Lol Not as far as I can tell. But I haven't really listened to him since Teflon Don. I heard some really good stuff about the new album though. Is it good?

>You have to live your words it seems.

Eh, yes and no. Tyler did a good job trying to be all crazy on his first two mixtapes.

>A lot of these new guys are essentially runoff from the post-ironic movement in art.

Agreed. Lil B was an interesting deconstruction of the genre, but now people are just taking his shtick at face value and copying it. >>71687897
>>
>>71688138
>Rick Ross
He has definitely evolved lyrically since Teflon Don but I'm not saying that it's any good.

>Tyler
I don't think anyone took him seriously though, people take Uzi and those like him from this new generation completely 100% seriously. This is where I get lost and just blame it on post-irony, nobody can be this stupid I hope. Pretty much exactly what you are saying about Lil B is the best way to put this whole mess.
>>
>>71687897
this sucks
>>
>>71686980
Rap is the worst major genre in the game right now.
>>
>>71688195
Yachty = Ironic

Uzi = not very ironic if at all

Ugly God = Ironic

21 Savage = not ironic, though you get ironic hipster for liking him because he's so bad (awaiting some shill to reply saying that his mixtape was one of the best of 2016)

Bones = Semi ironic

XXX = semi ironic

Famous Dex = Not ironic, but people like him ironically because he's so bad

Lil Peep = Ironic

Lil Pump = Ironic

>>
the fuck, Uzi's latest EP was fire and it's throwaway tracks for his album. most of his other shit sucks, but he is developing unlike a lot of other rappers aka Future. christ Future has the best fucking PR in the business. how they convince every music publication that his "albums" of deserving of merit when they are essentially mixtapes following the philosophy of "quantity over quality", boggles me.

>>71688293
bitch you've probably never listened to The Slaughter Tape, very different from that shit Metro EP which everyone seems to think is the only stuff he has put out besides features.
>>

Yes. In the recent bad and boujee video, I'm surprised more people didn't notice that everytime Migos guys get close to him in frame, they have them either crouch or kneel down to not make him look tiny in comparison.

The only time they're both standing upright, the Migos guys are always way in the background to even out the proportions.

Metal doesn't take as much skill as rap. You just need to good yelling voice and edgy lyrics. Earl Sweatshirt, Kendrick Lamar, K.A.A.N, etc.. They all have big vocabularies and story telling abilities. Not to mention amazing schemes and flow.
