How's my rap man

>Y'all might've seen fireworks, lemme show you inspireworks
>I might retire first but I'm not the guy that hurts
>Whenever y'all push me, it might be me
>Sorry I lied to you, I lie to me
>The same way y'all do, whenever you say yo we'll call you
>To bring the heat like summertime
>Well what do you think I'm wondering about?
>How to be summer, wow
>Wondering around this city, wandering, pondering

Kendrick - section 80 is a great example

Anything that tries to analyze the tragedy instead of glorifying or showcasing.

Is that what Hopsin raps about? I listened to his most popular tracks on Spotify and I just didn't dig it.

Is this conscious rap
>>
>>71686867
Sounds like a tame version of Run The Jewels, who have some concious hip hop songs. But also just traditional hip hop with a political spin. Talking about politics or the media doesn't make you a concious rapper. It's when you make an argument and conclude on that argument about what causes those problems.

anyone else find old school rap incredibly grating to listen to? not to mention corny as hell.

I find modern rap grating and corny

I will say that as a Brit our rap is pretty shit though, apart from The Streets and a few Dizzee Rascal and Skepta songs.

I like how you shoehorned Death Grips into that list of shitty artists. Furthermore
>Death Grips
>a rap group
Death Grips has and always will be a conceptual art exhibition anchored by sound and vision.
>>
>>71687328
jokes on you I don't like punk or rap
>>
>>71687307
Yeah most modern rap is shit apart from Kendrick and Death Grips but when the genre was at it's peak ('87/'88ish to about '95/'96ish) it was easily on the same level as the best rock music.
>>
I firmly believe that anyone who doesn't like Afrobeat/Soul, Funk, R&B, and Hip Hop are racist on some level.

Jazz is mostly a matter of intelligence.
>>
>>71687328
punk rock is dead. being an angry lefty with unnatural hair is not rebellious anymore. its the fucking status quo.

rap would be dead too, if (((they))) didn't keep rap's decaying corpse on permanent life support

I need to like all those genres to not be considered racist by the current wave of numale SJWs?

I do like Funk and R&B, but Rap is terrible, I firmly believe that anybody who mainly listens to rap is not worth having as a friend
>>
>>71687425
Hip hop now is what rock was in the 60s/70s. Not liking the genre could be considered social suicide, but I know plenty of fun people that don't care for it (mostly because they've only heard memerap and the worst of the worst).

They are a rap group fundamentally, the way that bands like Radiohead, Arcade Fire and Alt-J are fundamentally rock groups.

Those "shitty artists" pioneered, not only a music genre, but an entire culture.
>>
>>71687490
>Not liking the genre could be considered social suicide
I have plenty of friends. I am an adult now so this is not an issue. Most people I know do not listen to rap either except one guy I hang out with regularly but he's black so it's expected desu.

Basically what I am saying is I don't hang out with fuckboys so not a lot of my friends are into rap
>>
>>71687529
>Those "shitty artists" pioneered, not only a music genre, but an entire culture.
yeah imagine what would have happened if they didn't exist; more black children in south central would have fathers and the music on the radio wouldn't be so shitty

>>
>>71687673
All of your replies have demonstrated that you naturally fail to grasp any sort of rhetoric, which makes me skeptical about anything you would "appreciate" or find "merit" in.

Some people don't like certain thing, and with music its about what you feel when you hear it and what you were exposed to. I guarentee you don't like hip hop because you're either racist or not very much a fan of music, just certain stylea that justify your apathy and shameful masturbation.

>>71687741
I guess by that logic it doesn't involve any women or money either right

Most male want girls, money and power above all else. Maybe you're just one of those peoplw that has testosterone issues.
