Grime = UK hip-hop
>>
>absolutely no grime in the 70s, 80s or 90s
>suddenly in the early 2000s grime begins to appear
>'there's absolutely no influence from hip-hop guys! Grime developed completely independently since the 70s!'

Grimefags are insufferable.

Not grime. They're their own independent genres. Both genres are still around.

EDM genres that have nothing to do with grime

Grime came directly out of uk garage and developed side by side with dubstep (being interchangeable at one point early on).

The MC influence comes from Jamaican soundclash culture being applied to raves and pirate radio over the course of uk dance music's progression in the 1990s including jungle and garage leading up to grime.

It didn't come out of hip-hop.

>The MC influence comes from Jamaican soundclash culture

Why did it take so long for grime to add MCing to uk garage/jungle when their supposed influence was toasting that has been around since the 70s?

Your grime origin story is nothing but a myth. Hip-hop records made the rounds all around the world during the 90s so some UK DJs tried their hand at rapping.

Your story would make a bit more sense if there was any grime prior to hip-hop blowing up but no, it conveniently appeared after hip-hop made the rounds. The most critically acclaimed grime album was released in fucking 2003.

To outsiders/the mainstream maybe, but grime was way different from hip hop in the early days, and UK hip hop had been going for years before grime. Grime came from jungle/garage/dubstep. I guess because grime became the sound of the street in the uk, any rappers that became popular were then called grime. But it kind of means actual grime is lost as a genre to what should just be called uk rap/hip hop - that's why people get uppity about it.
>>
>>71682089
garage came directly out of house and techno and dancehall and dub of jamaica.

hip hop came directly out of house and techno and deancehall and dub of jamaica and the caribean.

theyre connected in a lot ways no denying that. doesnt mean they are the same things tho. music is complicated and a rhizome not necessarily a super easy structure where things branch off from one source. its complicated and interwoven

pardners are really this stupid

But MCing has been around since the late 80s, which matches the beginning of UK club culture and the emergence of hardcore. Obviously Soundsystem culture was a thing in the UK as well, since there were many, many Jamaican immigrants.
You might be familiar with the Jah Shaka Soundsystem which was around during the 70s, it famously appeared in the film Babylon.

But obviously only a fool would deny that grime is unrelated to hip-hop, if you consider that Wiley himself considers it to be hip-hop.

If /bleep/ and /bleep/ music were banned from /mu/ the board IQ would rise from 82% to 112%, even with Death Grips and k-pop rampant.
