So I'm pretty new at guitar. I bought an Epiphone for something like $200. I see people shitting on Epiphone pretty often. Is there anything really wrong with Epiphone guitars?
>>
>>71666483
you get what you pay for, is all
/gg/ ends up being a very vocal minority of either gear elitists or poorfags and a majority of people who just don't give a shit
>>
>>71666483
From what I hear, it wont sound like a gibson but that isn't necessarily bad.

Posted this in the previous thread but doing it again here
So I'm in the market for a new guitar around the 300-400$ mark, narrowed it down to 2 choices, an Ibanez Gio and a Jackson Dinky, both have 24 frets and a whammy bar which are the main things I was looking for, but I can't decide between them, the Ibanez has a really cool finish but the more I look at it the more it gives off an emo vibe and I feel like I'll get sick of it quite soon and I've also heard that Ibanez guitars are of pretty shit quality, especially the gio range but don't know if that's a meme or not, it also has an H/S/H pickup set up but I genuinely wonder how much I'll use the single coil
My gut tells me to go with the Jackson but I really like the color scheme of the Ibanez
set me straight boys

epiphone is fine. people even play epiphone who aren't beginner and still make them sound good

this place is fun to shoot the shit but realize most of this board are talentless gearfags. focus on playing and playing what you like, not 600 pedals and a $4000 stack that never leaves your room
>>
>>71666636
Jackson. Gios are shit.
>>
>>71666636
300$ for a gio? What country so you live in, for that price I would say get an rg350dx. Avoid the low end Jackson's they are bad, gios aren't really good either.
>>
>>71666848
Dis. Also 350s are good modding platforms for later stages of playing. Try getting a 350m, same shit but maple fretboard
>>
>>71666636

I've been playing on a dinky for about 10 years now with a H/S/S configuration. It's a solid guitar. Love it to bits. Can't really see myself playing anything else. You can even swap out the bridge for an original floyd rose if you want to. (Don't know if that applies to other guitars)

Sup /GG/

ive built a guitar over the past 6 months or so. It came out better than i could have imagined with almost no prior woodworking experience.

Tools were minimal and the only thing i could not do myself was plane the wood to correct thickness. I highly reccomend anyone that is interested to build their own guitar, it was extremely rewarding and gave me a whole new respect for guitar makers and woodworkers.

What are some artists you can play pretty much everything from?

What's the first thing when you play when you play a new guitar?

>>71667490
Anyone?
>>
>>71667792

this may be hard for you to understand but many of us play original material. you'll grow out of wanting to play metallica songs eventually, kid.
>>
>>71666929
You could just straight up buy one with the finish you like instead of spending money refinishing a MIM.

Slovenia, the Gio is supposedly some premium ordeal so I assume it's of slightly better quality than the rest of the Gio pack, it's actually 370 euros (about $400) but was thinking of shipping one from germany as it would be about 50 euros cheaper, even with shipping
the Jackson isn't really low end, the cheapest Dinkies go for 120 euros so I would say this one is coming into the mid range
>>71666827
>>71666917
the more I think about it, the moe it seems like the Jackson is the more sensible choice, the initial wow factor of the Gio's paint scheme is slowly wearing off and actually seems a bit vulgar now, the Jackson is definitely the more sober choice

Thats not the implication.
The reality is that all scales and modes eventually get blended into your technique. So you dont just play "pentatonic" exclusively, you'll play everything without making the distinction anymore.

sunburst are a little more complicated than a regular refinish in a solid color, but since its an MIM go for it, not much to lose

Single coils and an easy to use trem. Humbuckers can work but the sound you get from them isn't ideal. Shoegaze is more Amp and effects anyways

For a beginner Epiphone is completely fine. Once you git gud, you'll try out other guitars and find out what you really like.

With more expensive shit, it's about the quality of the build. How comfortable it is to play. You're not having to fight the guitar. It's not so much sound.

Your tone is like 90% whatever your amp and cab combo is. Then pick ups, then strings. If you're playing through a micro cube, you're going to sound mediocre. If you're playing through a Dual Rec, just about any humbucker guitar will do.
>>

He says its okay and I do stuff around the house you know. Mom said last year that if I was going to act like a child, I'd be treated like one. I don't go out or do adult stuff anyway so it didnt really make much of a difference. She cut my meat up for me at dinner, which I didn't complain about one bit, I liked it. I thik they realized that didn't do anything.

I just read and played guitar most of the time. Apart from having to go to bed early it was great.

Arent those "Toys" EXACTLY THE VERY DEFINITION of leisure ?

leisure
ˈlɛʒə/Submit

"people with too much enforced leisure"
synonyms: free time, spare time, spare moments, time to spare, idle hours, time off, freedom, holiday, breathing space, breathing spell, respite, relief, ease, peace, quiet; More
use of free time for enjoyment.
"increased opportunities for leisure"
synonyms: free time, spare time, spare moments, time to spare, idle hours, time off, freedom, holiday, breathing space, breathing spell, respite, relief, ease, peace, quiet; More
opportunity afforded by free time to do something.
"writers with enough leisure to practise their art"

Don't confuse my point. It is as I presented it, and no more. You're EuroMickyDees job is not my concern.

Yes. Toys are a definition of leisure. It's a question of priority. Pay yourself, and then collect the benefits later. Do you get some toy now, or invest it, wait, and get the same toy and financial security later? I had two cars I used for racing. Couldn't pay my rent. I decided to sell one, and unwind the other (from a lease). I gave up on one form of racing, bought a cheap racer for the other form, and invested the limited proceeds from my other car sales. Now I've got more guitars than I know what to do with, and no reason not to buy more.

Not sure what a "$401k" house is, other than a house that you don't own and don't really understand what is being said.

>Really makes your weasel swizzle huh ?

Nah. Not really. My weasel is fine.

There's the sx liquid, Harley Benton something-or-other, Douglas corvus, and Xavier JM. That's all I can think of right now as far as far as ones worth fixing up.

I love the epiphone headstocks. They are very classy to my eye, especially the customs, whereas Gibson looks like the cheapest possible manufacturing technique around.

I don't know how this thing go around, must be the brand name attached to the head stock that turns people off.

>>71677196
who is roman

Lets see if you can pick the gibson
