Question: Are there bands/albums that influenced your music but you don't really like that much?

Well, maybe early black metal bands like Mayhem? I can't say I don't like Burzum though

I'm mixing what is probably the song I've put the most work into and I'm still adding to it, hopefully I won't over produce it. Those who wanted more chords and melodies will be getting them on the new album.

didn't see this at first. probably natural snow buildings and grouper, especially in my early albums.

wut
ok im a massive xiu xiu nerd (almost as bad as haino), your cover of Archie's Fades is fantastic, those fucking violins are so damn good! I wasn't big on the vocals at first but on the second half of the track you got it pretty spot on. Maybe a tiny bit too processed but that last bit was perfect.
Life in Slow Motion's Sad Pony Guerrilla Girl cover I wasn't as big on. The reverb and echoey guitars and bass line, while they might add a heavy dose of ambient atmosphere, really kill the pure emotion that drove the original track with its simple chords and Jamie's voice. The vocalist is also really hazy and sounds like he should be doing sufjan covers or shoegaze, which is what I assume this band does. Overproduced for me but for people that are more into shoegaze and dream pop they'll probably love this version.
Also why the fuck did they replace the intense noise breakdown in the middle of the track with some guy speaking a foreign language
>>71659319
i don't like your noise stuff at all, i think you already know that. Giving the first half of your black metal release a try.
no offense but i laughed when the midi drums kicked in. I shouldn't laugh because i did the same thing on my recent release. This is way too lo-fi for its own good. I assume that was too hide the vocals and the midi drums, which was probably a wise idea, but this is too extreme. i feel like i'm listening to a recording that was taped with a cassette player microphone, then someone played it on that cassette player and recorded it to their computer with a microphone, then uploaded it in 128kbps. As for the actual music, yeah that was good! It's pretty standard for a black metal record but i could see this getting popular amongst the black metal nerds of /mu/. I don't know or like much black metal outside of Liturgy so I can't comment too much on that. IMO, tone down on the lo-fi and you could be holding some potentially great music.

I was expecting this to be a macintosh plus clone but you've got your own sound. I like the jazzy vibes in sine titulo II
>>71661229
It wasn't to hide shit, I just had the concept of making an album as lo-fi as possible.
The drums are actually TR606 samples, Big Black used the same drum machine
When I made it I had Lil Ugly Mane's black metal album in mind (Sleep Until It Hurts You) and Paysage d'Hiver
Thanks for listening!

As for the question, I'm probably gonna have to go with Weating (By Musket and Sextand) by Pavement. I vastly prefer their later stuff, but there is a strange quality to the EPs on this comp that I really like.

In particular I liked the super lo-fi synth drones.

thought of LUM's black metal stuff right when the drums kicked in. could use some variety though, love a lot of the concepts of DSBM but way too much seems regurgitated

the youtube link is the one I released most recently, but I'll have the full album up on bandcamp in a week or two. hard to say exactly what I'd call it, I just wanted to make poppy music and some of the stuff even started out sounding like pop punk till I recorded guitars a dozen times or so per track and panned them...added some black metal vocals...each song has at least 40 individual tracks desu. been a blast to make though
