I will be completely honest and say that I grew up listening to Floyd on my father's CD collection, he had A Momentary Lapse of Reason but not Piper. By the time I had listened to Piper I was out of my Pink Floyd phase so my personal bias and nostalgia definitely affects my rankings. But it's still a great album.

I really do think AMLOR is consistently underrated here though, it has some great songs. If I left it completely up to nostalgia I would have put The Wall above every other album ever.

I don't know, man. The only song that I think is even halfway decent on Momentary Lapse is Learning to Fly, but even that one's pretty lacking on pretty much every front besides the great hook. Also, I would die before ever listening to "The Dogs of War" again.

Piper At the Gates of Dawn (Both mono and stereo versions) Saucer Full of Secrets and The Best of Pink Floyd (AKA Masters of Rock) are the ONLY Pink Floyd albums you ever need! OK Meddle is worth having but everything else sucks!

Do you like Roger Waters? I’ve been a big Pink Floyd fan ever since the release of their 1979 album, The Wall. Before that, I really didn’t understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on The Wall where Roger Waters’ presence became more apparent. I think The Final Cut was the group’s undisputed masterpiece. It’s an epic meditation on the horrors of war. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding album. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Gilmour, Waters and Wright. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Take the lyrics to The Fletcher Memorial Home. In this song, Roger Waters addresses the problems of abusive political authority. Two Suns in the Sunset is the most moving prog song of the 1980s, about nuclear warfare. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as, uh, anything I’ve heard in rock… Roger Waters’ solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like The Bravery of Being Out of Range and Three Wishes… But I also think Roger Waters works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist.

This is What God Wants Part I, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

meddle isn't an undiscovered gem. seamus is the worst piece of shit I've ever seen.

animal isn't greater than DSOTM, it's 2 or 3, objectively. the wall is very overrated. it's just a waters' crybaby-album. it's an album about how horribly sad waters' life was. pretentious pick. final cut is even fucking worse. the 2nd to worst PF album.

piper is just a fucking mess. just noise most of the time.

ummagumma is fucking weird, although i get why people would like it.

atom heart mother has a pretty good listing in everyone's list, which is the only positive compliment i can give to the crowd. sounds great, start of their classic sound.

I haven't listened to their old stuff because it doesn't appeal to me. But nothing on my list receives anything lower than a 7/10, all fantastic albums imo.

I don't think Saucerful is so distant from Piper. Piper is inconsistent to a fault, despite having a few of the best floyd songs ever. Saucerful only has like one weak song and even it has a fun barrett riff.
