I never realized how great the drums are on these albums
>>71629971
Insanely correct

How do you not realise it for spiderland?
>>71630031
It's one of those albums that takes me a while to "Get", and I keep discovering new things about it when I hear it.
For me that's the hallmark of a good album

A gross overstatement. Everything in that band/album is goat with the drumming being the most subtle. But not that it carries the whole project.

I wish there were more albums with drums as expressive as this one. I don't know that I can properly even put into words what it is that makes them so good, because Britts style isn't exactly showoff-y or anything like that, some of it is really technical and complex like on Breadcrumb Trail and Nosferatu Man, but quite a lot of it is also repetitive and languid.
He propels the music forward so well with his style, it sounds so natural and effortless, but he's incredibly dynamic and that is something you pick up on the more you listen to the album. The drum-fills is one example, they're all over the place but they're incredibly subtle. This is what brings so much life into the drums on Spiderland, his drums are a core part of the character of that album, they're so much more than just a backing beat.

All good rock music and jazz derivative music in general. Drums and bass are MEANT to carry the rest of the instruments.

I doubt any drummer is that strong.
>>71629968
Nah the screwdriver player carried them.
The drums at the end of Sleep are insane, though.
>>71633408

>>71633558

>>71633893

"Drummer"
Budgie is underrated as fuck
>>71633362
he's good but he's too prominent for this style, just plays too many fills
>>71634153
too prominent for this style? what does that mean?
yeah he does play many fills
>>71632125
>>71629968
as a drummer, you'd think that but it's all studio magic in the case of GY!BE

SHIT
>>71634312
could u please elaborate? this is coming from a beginner drummer
>>71634483
A. a lot of the shit is overdubbed, you'd need at least 2 people to perform a bunch of stuff on the album.
B. the drums on this album are pristine, but it's the way they are recorded that make them that way. a lot of jazz drums in comparison sound heavy handed and too aggressive, but it's because they needed to be that way to be heard on a recording. live GY!BE drums don't and can't sound anything like on the record.
all that said, on the record they sound magnificent
>>71633590
Does Pinch have the best drumming of any rock song ever?
>>71634546
I've noticed that it's been over dubbed and that's what I thought you meant but I thought they just had 2 drummers, is it just this record? because I haven't noticed that with their other stuff
Another obligatory one
