It's already March and I still haven't heard anything I liked from 2017. Sampha's record was okay. I'm in such a listening rut. just keep listening to Car Seat Headrest and I know I'm gonna hate the album if I listen to it too much. Any recs for stuff more on the indie side would be super nice.

The vocals sound really similar to Conor on Lifted which I love. I couldn't stand the overproduced sound of his vocals on his last few records. The music is kind of like a mix between cassadaga and Wide awake it's morning. The album also has way more of a sense of humor than anything he's done besides maybe desaparecidos. Specifically I liked the songs anytime soon, too late to fixate, and a little uncanny. Most of the slower, more somber tracks are honestly better on Ruminations but the faster ones benefit from this production a lot.

i think a lot of the lyrics are ok. the overall songs are good. it's impossible to find music that is free from liberal bullshit so sometimes i choose to look past it if there are other redeeming qualities to the music and the agenda isn't shoved in my face.
