>W-What is this? Is this like some spacey, lofi, homespun, very skeletal, like bland, trendy RnB? Like alt-alternative RnB? N-no thank you! N-not into it!

That is a deadly accurate description of the music, though.
Pete nails down the mood and overall feel that Mac was getting at early on, and recently he's pushed that into some RnB, and the guy certainly has his own charm... but he ain't Mac.
Mac is only as big as he is because he's not trying to be anybody else, and every time he puts something out you immediately go "oh, yep, there he is" (whether you enjoy it or not is irrelevant). Pete puts something out and you go "oh, yep, there's that DeMarco mood with some Sean Nicholas Savage and probably copped from some young Soundcloud producer somewhere".

You have a valid point but I still think Pete puts a vast majority of these "indie rocker" guitarists to shame. His playing is just 1000x better to listen to and more original

His guitar work is great.
But even then... Mac is a better songwriter AND a better guitar player...
keep in mind DeMarco wrote the riffs that Pete was playing when they were together.
Not trying put Pete down though, I'm a Vancouver boy who watched them develop and eventually outgrow our scene, and I'm proud of these guys through and through.

I enjoy his earlier stuff a lot. The Homeshake Tape and In The Shower are phenomenal.
He kinda lost me at Fresh Air. The great moments are great, but I feel like there's just too much half-assed filler.
my go to fuck music
