People were hating on Thank God for Girls when it came out ahead of the album similarly because they thought it "didn't sound like Weezer", then the album came out and everybody shut up.

This album is going to start with the poppiest Weezer songs ever but will progressively get darker until it sounds like Throbbing Gristle-type industrial music. Calling it right now.

If this was a single from some up and coming Pop artist it would still be shit. Nobody would give a fuck and they would get no acclaim.

Why does Rivers feel the need to stray from Weezer's standard guitar driven sound? Does he think writing a shitty generic modern Pop song makes him a more mature writer? Sticking to what he's good at and knowing when something doesn't sound good would probably be a better idea.

The fact that they recorded the trio of Make Believe, Red and Raditude and managed to come back with EWBAITE and White was amazing. To follow it up with this is unbelievably naive and sad.
