Mac DeMarco, Best Coast, Wavves, Father John Misty. All that shit. Don't get me wrong, Mac was fine but his fanbase man.

I saw Fat Mike get blasted in the face with a big chunk of ice and shake it off like it was nothing. But then he stopped playing in between songs to tell someone to fuck off because the one thing he doesn't like is being spit on.
Saw some girl flash her titties to the stage and then Melvin commented on her relationship with her father.

I lost my shoes that night but it was a great show

Brand New, openers were the Front Bottoms and Modern Baseball. Music was fine, crowd was boring and stood still the entire time. There was a group of teenage girls behind who would continually edge in front of me over the course of a few songs, and I didnt want to touch any of them so I was pushed back quite a ways from who I was with. I had enough and pushed them aside and went back to my friends. I got a chorus of "Ugh!" and "he's too tall!" That's why you come early, you basic bitch.

Honestly that isn't too bad and I've never had a really terrible time at a concert. The next worse thing was spending $50 on beer at a Phish concert at Wrigley field in Chicago.

Mighty Mighty Bosstones and others

Morrisey. All deep cuts besides two songs. 45 minutes late at a festival with a strict cut off. Pretentious rants and backing videos.

Back when Myspace was popping my brother saw that The Aggrolites were playing a small show in Malibu. After watching our cousin's indie band play the Troubadour we dipped down the PCH to catch a late show in a crowded bar. I wasn't even 21 at the time and we didn't realize the show was in a bar venue but they marked me with Xs and I went in anyways. Probably the only 15 year old there that night

Warped last year. I was with my gf so that was nice I guess, and Sum 41 and Mighty Bosstones were fun, but the whole thing seemed like a pathetic sorry excuse for a shell of its former self and the lineup was mostly pretty lame.

Kanye at Bonnaroo. The entire festival was there, the crowd was so big it was unreal. He spent a ton of time ranting about how he was the greatest rock star to ever live, even interrupting stronger to rant for 5 minutes. Some guy went nuts and started punching people near me. Plus I got separated from my friends in the crowd while still on acid, which wasn't a good time.

Saw Beck at Boston Calling a couple of years ago. He put on a great show, but my group got stuck in front of two middle aged couples that were being obnoxious. As the night progressed they pushed their way in front of us, proclaiming that they we're "real Beck fans" that weren't there "just to hear loser." Pretty fucking annoying

Also some girl vomited right behind me early that day just before Tame Impala went on.

The Mars Volta at End Fest 2007. Assholes threw bottles of piss at them and they went on a crazy rant, dude said he would give 100 bucks to whoever beat the shit out of them. Guitarist threw his guitar into the amp and it made the loudest sound I ever heard. What songs they did play were so loud and the mixing so bad that it just sounded like a jet engine. They cut their set short.

Murder City Devils at Sasquatch a few years later. It was supposed to be their big return or whatever. Frontman wouldn't stop ranting about "faggots" and kept saying "faggot" over and over. He was so drunk out of his mind. He started making out with the guitarist. Then he told the crowd that everyone who isn't gay should turn around for some arbitrary reason relating to gay rights. Needless to say nobody turned around. I think I recall him yelling a bunch "Anyone who doesn't turn around is a faggot!" It was really embarrassing.

It was after the concert had ended. The midget was a few feet ahead of us with his regular-height friends just RAVING about how great the show was. Using his hands, getting really into it. At one point he stopped walking and my buddy ran into him. This drunk midget gets all pissed. He gets all in his waist and starts yelling, asking if he wants to fight, shoves my friend in the middle thighs.

My buddy tried to leave and the midget took a low kick at his ankle and tripped him. So they got into a tussle after that. For a midget he was a nimble little fucker. But eventually my friend kind of rolled under him, then lifted him and threw him a few feet. We ran off before he could get back up.

I was crowd surfing during Crystal Castles at Sasquatch when they played before their second album had come out and I went crowd surfing to get to the back of the crowd. I was being pressed against the stage so hard that I couldn't bear it anymore. On the way back during the surf I started surfing alongside this drunk dude crowd surfer in an inner tube. We both drifted towards the outskirts of the crowd where they could no longer support us. I was upside down all turned around and my legs somehow swung down like a fucking guillotine and hit the other crowd surfer straight in the face breaking his sunglasses in half straight into his cheek bone. I always found it weird how at concerts you've got guys and gals subtly grinding on each other and trying to hook up. I completely understand at a club or something, but not at a psychedelic rock concert. Just seems like an odd place to try to get laid.

I went to see Blink 182 live with my best buds in college because fuck it memories. Matt and Kim were opening for them. Worst thing so have ever heard in my life. Jimmy Eat World weren't so great either.

Went to see this generic blues rock band that my dad loves on my birthday, with his super weirdo girlfriend at the time.

Felt extremely sick just before the set was about to start, and spent the first 10 minutes of the gig shitting and feeling like death in the toilet.

The worst part is I'd just seen The Pop Group the day before, and could've seen 65daysofstatic instead but my dad bought tickets to the other show before I knew about it.

Danzig's Blackest of the Black Tour several years ago. We drove down from Canada to see him in Minneapolis, mainly to see Dimmu Borgir, but I do like Danzig's early stuff.

It was a good concert. I got immediately turned onto Skeletonwitch, and Dimmu Borgir and Moonspell weren't half bad either.

Danzig though was a serious asshole. He stopped the concert and told the sound board guy to fuck off and then went and adjusted the sound himself. He then apologized to the crowd saying he had to destroy his voice for anyone to be able to hear him. It was kind of hard to enjoy the show after that.

They opened with Breadfan and Enter Sandman was still early in the setlist instead of being played as an encore. IIRC, Stone Cold Crazy was the closer.

Given recent, um, events, everyone held their breath when the flashpots went off. But good show nonetheless, James kept the obnoxious "YEEAAHHHH" banter at a minimum.

Saw Motley Crue in 2006 (I think that's when it was). It was pretty bad. I couldn't get near the front of the crowd because this old white trash bitch kept pushing me back and yelling "Fuck you, I've been a fan since before you were born!" Vince Neil was making grunting noises rather than singing, Tommy Lee's drum coaster broke down halfway through the set, and Nikki Sixx was being a total douchebag to the audience. I left covered in that old bitch's beer and puke.

Smashing Pumpkins. I'll start by saying that I actively dislike their music. Just not my thing. I went along because my girlfriend wanted somebody to go with. I have been to a lot of shows, and seen a lot of bad bands, but this was the first time I'd ever felt like they didn't want to be there. The singer specifically, I don't know what that guys deal is, but it was so painfully obvious that he didn't care about his fans and didn't want to be there. No encore, barely any interaction. Made me feel sorry for everyone there who actually liked the band.

Almost ten years ago Fallout Boy played a free show at Dundas Square, Toronto. They were so high on themselves. Pete Wentz climbed some scaffolding and screamed into the mic for most of the set. Went to see Marilyn Manson a few years ago and it was probably the worst concert I can imagine. They're kind of my guilty pleasure, but I enjoy them in a fun, nostalgic sort of way because I really loved them when I was a kid, but I never got to see them.

So we get there around the time the show is supposed to start. Nope. We waited for literally near two hours for Manson to decide to come out. Once he did, he proceeded to put on one of the most boring, incoherent shows I have ever seen in my life. I spent half of it asking my girlfriend "What is he even saying?" or "What song is this supposed to be?" It was so bad that even someone who had been a big fan couldn't even figure out WHICH SONG they were trying to play because he kept singing lyrics that didn't go with the song the rest of the band was playing. In addition, he spent a large portion of his time on stage screaming at the other members of the band.

Oh, and the power went out and we had to wait for it to be restored.

The band wanted to play songs from their new album (Black Ice), but the crowd weren't having that, they just wanted to hear TNT and You Shook Me All Night Long. That and my mom bought me the tickets.

Cannibal Corpse. They put on a pretty great show for a bunch of almost 50 year olds. The problem wasn't them, it was the asshole security throwing out anyone who even so much as tried to mosh. The excuse was "We don't want to have to clean up blood and broken teeth from the venue after the show is over."

So don't host a fucking metal show if you don't want moshing. Cripes.

Amen back in the mid-2000s (they're a kind of hardcore punk group that emerged during the nu metal wave if you don't know).

Some skinny kid in the front row thought that the band spitting into the audience meant that he should spit back. Wrong. Their hulking, bald bassist (or maybe it was the guitarist, I don't remember) thought otherwise. He jumped into the crowd and gave the kid a taste of his beefy fist. I'm not just talking a light tap or two here, I mean he literally knocked him unconscious. Then he jumped back onstage and resumed playing as if nothing had happened.

Security escorted the kid out, and the show went on like all was normal. Too bad they sucked all the atmosphere out of it and I lost a lot of respect for a band I liked.

Had a similar experience at a Pigface show only in this case, it was some Billy Bob redneck who said the wrong thing. Charles Levi leapt off the stage like he'd been launched out of a cannon and kicked the shit out of Cletus there. Levi was wearing some crazy-ass combat boots with 20 lace holes covered in steel belts and spikes and I would assume the blood of his enemies. Went to Brand New in October with a friend. Same line-up. Brand New played about 80% of the devil and God. That was good because that's the only album of theirs that I've listened to. Did an encore. Pretty good encore. Similar crowd to yours. There was a mosh pit and people were yelling and singing along. The were times when everyone was jumping up and down but that was only once or twice. Marilyn Manson on Halloween, 1998. Monster Magnet was the opening act, too bad they never showed up. It took 3-1/2 hours before Manson came on stage and he was high out of his mind. Late 2000s. I was a huge Ozzy fan and knew all of his songs like the back of my hand. So imagine the excitement when I got Ozzfest tickets.

First of all, the show happened an entire fucking month later than planned because he had a respiratory infection. And then he never played any of the songs I wanted to hear. My favorite Ozzy album was Diary of a Madman and he didn't play anything off that record, it was nothing but a greatest hits setlist heavily stacked with Sabbath songs, including fucking Paranoid as an encore.

Also, maybe it was unreasonable to expect an A-list performance out of a 60 year old fried ex-drug addict, but he barely moved on stage at all and looked like a cardboard cutout. And he wasn't on stage for 10 minutes of the show, the backing band just jammed the whole time. When your backing band is more exciting than you, it's time to retire.

I was 16 and my dad got me the tickets. Also because I was underage, nobody would give me a cigarette. Assigned seating, and it was in a basement showroom in a casino.

I've only had one show which I would legitimately call a bad experience. 2007ish, Kamelot, with Leaves' Eyes as support.

This was when I was in my early-mid 20s and usually traveled alone to shows like this. I usually got to the venues super early so I could get a prime spot, and this was no exception. I was against the rail, somewhat off center. The difference at this show was all the young girls there for LE and their douchebag boyfriends.

From the moment LE came on, I was subjected to various girls and their boyfriends trying to rip past and/or climb over anyone in front of them. I could hardly pay attention to the show because I had to keep these fuckers off my back. Now, I'm fine with getting physical at shows. I've spent enough time in pits, and I'm completely good with the normal bumps, pushes, etc, that come with being up front on the floor. This was different. There was no respect here, just bullshit. After LE, I was so pissed off, sore, and tired that I had to bail and watch Kamelot from the elevated area toward the back.

Then I left to find that I had gotten a parking ticket literally two minutes before I got to my car.

The vocalist for Battlecross, some gangly motherfucker in a tank top with DETROIT FUCKIN' MICHIGAN on the front, comes on stage and yells "WE ARE BATTLECROSS FROM DETROIT! FUCKING! MICHIGAN! OUR NEW SONG PUSH PULL DESTROY IS NUMBER ONE ON SIRIUS RADIOOOOWWW" at us. Then they started playing shitty melodeath, so we went for pizza instead.

And then we got back to find that Hate Eternal's set was ridiculously loud, even with earplugs, and the mixing was garbage. There was also one kid trying to hardcore dance in the pit who wound up slapping random people in the face until a bouncer told him to fuck off. I left before the encore.

This one time at a packed, small venue, I accidentally stepped on this girl's feet as I was walking through the crowd. I had boots on, she had open toed shoes.

I apologized profusely, but when she kept going on, I pointed out that maybe open toe shoes at a metal show wasn't the best choice. Then her whole crew lit up and got just as animated with the "NOT COOOOOL" shit.

Tried to apologize again, left the area, etc.....but the place was small and every time I saw anyone in that group, the pointed at me and spoke into their friends' ears....heckled me and taunted me etc.

Animal collective was especially shitty on their spring tour last year. really nothing redeeming about the show other than an updated version of Loch Raven. and the kids around me were so annoying.

My cousin saw Motley Crue in the 80s and said they were high as fuck and it was a terrible show. He said Nikki Sixx could barely even stand up on stage.

Then he saw Metallica on the '88 tour and got thrown out by a security guy who didn't like him for whatever unaccountable reason. They demanded to see his ticket, but he had trouble finding where he put it, so they decided to drag him out kicking and screaming. Literally. I mean, he wasn't going to put up with these asshole security guys without a fight. They threw him out, closed the door, and got into a shoving match, him trying to push the door open and the security guys trying to close it.

Eventually they got outside and a cop showed up and beat the shit out of him with a baton. He got arrested and spent a night in jail because none of his friends knew he was there.

When I went to see Radiohead the stage collapsed and a guy died.
They cancelled.

Went to see Mastodon, Alice in Chains and Deftones on the Amazing Black Diamond Sky Tour. Some dude came up behind me and tried to strangle me twice. I punched him off the first time and the second time the crowd fought him and he just disappeared.

Went to see Between the Buried and Me and this guy behind me starts hitting on this very obese girl by telling her how she's beautiful on the inside. Halfway through the show she's naked and they're dry humping against us in the front row. Super gross. Concert ends and he ditches her as she tries to find her clothes.

Was seeing a local metal band when I was in India at a small venue, it's raining and the metal barrier my friends are leaning on falls over onto some bare wires and they all get fried. Luckily there were enough that they only got a little singed.

Saw Black Sabbath on The End tour in '13. Great show for a bunch of old guys and the crowd were pretty nice (mostly).

I don't go to a lot of concerts.

I was dragged to Korn/Slipknot a while back, and they brought this band King 187 or something with them (local to Iowa or something, Slippy brought them). Same thing, man, they finished their first song (which mainly comprised of their intro clip about them being the most dangerous band on the planet, and then the singer rolling around the stage groaning into the mic to awful music), and like you said, I could hear the pins being manufactured. The crowd was so quiet, I was able to shout "You guys fucking suck!", which they and the entire crowd heard. Some people could be heard audibly laughing. It was terrible.

I saw Animal Collective live during their Centipede Hz tour. They were good, but the fanbase was absolutely terrible. Absolutely cringey as hell and downright disrespectful (I say this while AnCo is one of my favorite bands). During the opening act some no name chick was doing some mellow and quiet music on the piano. Not the most interesting stuff, but it was worth a listen. In front of me was this group of three or four autists who looked like they just discovered /mu/ a month ago.

During one of the open act's songs, one of the guys in the group says, "Alright, we're all gonna do it on three..." He counts to three and they all shout out "STRAWBERRY JAM!!" as loud as they could. Everyone within a 50 foot radius heard this and just shook their head. When AnCo actually played, the same group would shout out STRAWBERRY JAM between almost every song. It's like wow you know the name of the second most popular Animal Collective album, congrats on your hipster cred.

Saw REO Speedwagon at a county fair once. Some retard in the front row started a fight with this other dude, and Kevin Cronin stopped in the middle of Keep On Lovin' You and started yelling at the guy and telling him what an asshole he was. The dude got up and left red-faced. Then KC took a joint from his pocket and offered it to the guy that got punched.

That was nice of him. :^)

Saw Smash Mouth at a free concert for a village fest.

Playing to an almost empty field of scattered folding chairs and people sitting on blankets. There was barely any lighting for the stage. Perhaps they wanted it that way. We were just sitting on the perimeter, eating, and kept saying "I can't believe this is Smash Mouth" in the worst sense.
They started into the ironic "All Star", and I swear I heard Steve Harwell change the lyrics from "I need to get myself away from this place" to "I need to get the fuck up out of this place". Either way, nobody noticed.

Probably the most depressing sight I've ever seen in live music.

I saw SM in 2013 because my ex worked at the venue and got me free tickets. Sugar Ray opened for them and kicked ass. SM themselves were horrible. They were totally drunk and only played for about 40 minutes. They were supposed to be off the stage by 11:00 but quit half an hour before that. At least I didn't have to pay for that show.

Some vendor was handing out free loaves of bread, so the crowd were winging them around like Frisbees and having a blast. Some of the other bands were joking about it. Saw Smashing Pumpkins in '97 when I was like 15. Awful show. They only played an hour and then took off. About 15 minutes later, Billy Corgan came back out and told the crowd what lame faggots we were for not being loud and enthusiastic enough. They were about ready to start a riot.

Came to my city (Nottingham, UK) just after Zeitgeist and did the same thing but for about 45 minutes. £50 tickets. Complained that we were only singing the old songs. Yeah. The ones we know. We didn't even give the new stuff a bad reception, which is admirable because it was shite. Went off stage after about eight songs. Came on for a few minutes, sang half of 1979 on acoustic, basically told us to go fuck ourselves and disappeared.

The support band (Oceansize) played longer.

Apparently someone bricked Billy's tour bus afterwards. I'm glad. Fuck Corgan.

Funny, I saw the Pumpkins last year and it was a great show except this one screaming bitch who kept going "PLAAAYYY FOR MEEEE, BIIIIILLLLLYYY!!!!!" The crowd told her to shut up, but she kept carrying on.

Other than that, great show. The crowd was cheering, they did an encore, and even played some David Bowie covers.

I saw them in Massey Hall in 2008 and was super-pumped since I loved them at Virgin Festival the year before. It was the worst show I've ever been to; they played a lot of songs no one had any interest in hearing, Billy did three costume changes, and they ended the show with Billy going on a 20 minute monologue about how they wanted to challenge the audience instead of giving us a normal rock show. Went to see Lana del Ray last year playing with Hole, who absolutely sucked beyond all redemption. Courtney Love had all the guitar skills of a 15 year old who just got their first guitar. Then it started to rain a bit, then the tornado watch came in. Concert cancelled, no Lana. Just a shit performance from Hole, and being soaked. The only benefit of the whole thing is that the tickets were refunded.

Carpenter Brut last night kinda sucked.

LE MATOS dropped out so this new artist played his shit for way too long. He was inexperienced and i wasn't a fan of horror techno. Lots of Metalfags. Music was WAY too loud. Couldn't hear the synth over the fucking bass. Some lanklet behind me had an issue with personal space and kept poking his arm into me to let me know I was "too close." This. I went to a STRFKR show not knowing who they were because Com Truise was opening for them. I'm a huge fan of Com Truise and thought he put on a great show. Bunch of asshole teens in the audience show up for STRFKR I guess because they are all literally talking over Com Truise's music his whole set. Everywhere I try to go in the crowd I get stuck next to some annoying hipster yelling out loud how they hate millenials for using phones during concerts or some other bullshit, yet just about all of them were texting through the entirety of Com Truise's set. That pretty much describes the average STRFKR fan apparently.

Once STRFKR came on, I learned I did not like this band enough to deal with the crowd and left.

Maybe late to the party here but mine is without a doubt Buckcherry.

It was a co-headliner deal with Avenged Sevenfold and Papa Roach. Both of these bands absolutely killed it. Killer sets, got the crowd into it, jammed while the singers went in the back for a break, etc.

Then Buckcherry arrives into an inaudible melody of pained screams, the word cocaine inserted into every other sentence to be relevant I guess and the song Crazy Bitch played twice in the 20 minutes before I walked out. It was the worst performance I've ever seen and I still don't understand why Avenged Sevenfold would co-headline with them.

I saw them open for Kiss. The tickets were free so I can't complain too much. I just don't know what they were doing there. They just sort of acted like swearing twice as loud as singing other words made them 'rock,' as opposed to playing good rock music. At least Kiss was around when bands could use image as the focus of their group.

He changed up the melodies & tempos so we couldn't sing along. No stage banter and the concert was essentially a gimmick to introduce the world to his son's reggae band. He exited the stage--no encore--right when his contractually obligated 90 minutes were up.

Now I can see why he was reduced to playing small town drive-ins back in the '90s before the current nostalgia craze turned him into everyone's favorite pot-addled grandpa.

Saw Bob Dylan last year at the Ryman in Nashville. Glad I went, can say I saw Bob Dylan, but that's the only positive thing about going. It was 90 minutes of an old man growling at you on stage, couldn't understand one word. The audience was mesmerized like they were being hypnotized. Weird shit.

I went to a festival in Latrobe, PA called the Rolling Rock Town Fair.
It was the first ever year for it, and it was a fairly good line-up; RHCP, Moby, Fuel, Our Lady Peace, and a few others.
One of the others was Marcy Playground, you know, the Sex & Candy Song. I am a musician and hate saying negative things but they were bad that day in a way that made you feel bad for them. I mean, you just knew they could do better. (Hopefully)
At one point early on the singer/guitarist was dancing around and actually pulled the instrument cable out of his guitar. He kept playing for a good 10 seconds until he noticed.
