what's the best bossa nova album?
astrud gilberto is a goddess so I think first post is right
I'd also recommend checking out Wave by Antonio Carlos Jobim if you want something instrumental
as well as his album with Elis Regina
João Gilberto is perhaps the greatest bossa nova musician overall, but I think the best album is Samba Demais by Marcos Valle.
João Gilberto's self titled but the Astrud Gilberto Album is definitely a close second
hey anon.
"samba demais" and "o compositor e o cantor" is indeed very good. check it out. i would also recommend "os afro-sambas", "vinícius & toquinho", "stone flower", "chega de saudade", "vinicius em cy", "the composer of 'desafinado' plays" and "elis e tom"

Novos Baianos - Acabou Chorare
Urging you to check this out. I found a lot of bossa nova to get tiresome after too long. this album does a fantastic job at keeping a fresh sound.
This is the only tangentially related thread I've seen ever, so I'll ask here: what is out there that's similar to Thievery Corporation's album Saudade?
I don't care about language. Everything I'm finding on Google is either absolute shit quality or is completely different.
One of my favorites.

I don't know shit about bossa nova, but I always liked Captain Marvel by Stan Getz. Does this count as bossa?
