Most of it is just noisy distorted pop music, but of course there are gems in every genre if you look hard enough. Some metal is very virtuosic.

Funny thing is whoever made that comic would probably love heavier classic emo albums like Sunny Day Real Estate's Diary and Refused's The Shape of Punk to Come. The whole conflation of bad post-hardcore (there is good post-hardcore!), emo, and screamo is an endless problem that I run into. When will people learn the difference? Some can memorize all the different metal sub-genres but can't differentiate emo, screamo, and post-hardcore? Sad!
