kinda, especially starting out
syd was super influential in terms of sonic experimentation and style
>>
I can't really think of any bands that were directly influenced by them, they didn't really create any new genre. But being one of the most popular bands in history obviously is going to be influential.
>>
They constantly influence plebs to come and piss on the ashes of this board.

Also Piper has been a consistent influence of the psych/space rock genre.

their influence was mainly down to sonic experimentation and style

the most influential parts of pink floyd's discography came from the first 5/6 years where they were looking for a sound that suited them and didn't really stick in one place, it also showed their versatility

>Creed: “We were really inspired by Pink Floyd, from Syd Barrett all the way to Meddle, and by early Hawkwind. But we weren’t hippies. It was something else.”
>>
>>71577883
wow I didn't know that. sometimes it's weird how bands are inspired by things that sound totally different to them.

Pink Floyd used flanger pedals. So did Chrome, Checkmate, atheists.

thanks for mentioning cluster my friend

It's not that surprising. PF were experimenting with sampling and sound collages on Ummagumma and Atom Heart Mother, and The Visitation is far more in the vein of psychedelic rock than their later industrial/post-punk releases.
