How long does a song have to be before you consider it to be

4 is pushing it

Over 6 minutes

Depends on if its engaging enough

Anything over 5 minutes and 30 seconds could be edited into two tracks

Anything over 8 I'd consider long if it doesn't capture my attention and hold it. That's the thing with some lengthy songs, if they're great/interesting they don't seem long or drawn out.

summer of love is like 3 minutes and it feels excruciatingly drawn out and boring and long

This. Six minutes is right at the point where it's probably too long to ever be a single but is still a pretty normal song length for a typical band to hit with some frequency. Once you get into the seven minute range you've got a long song on your hands, which contrary to what some here are saying isn't a bad thing at all.

Genre is a big consideration as well though. I'm assuming normal rock and pop stuff but if we're talking like doom metal then a song isn't really long until it exceeds 15 minutes. Context is everything.
