Reading interviews, it becomes clear that Richard is obsessed with music making and only releases albums to make a living. Like, the dude has so much shit in the vaults that will never be released because they were just made to satisfy his curiosity. What other artists are like this?

Grimes
>"The album was scrapped cuz it was depressing and I didn't want to tour it," she wrote. "I may release it one day. I throw out music all the time, i have almost 1000 gigs of unreleased music on my hard drive. I just want the next album to be as good as possible. 'Go' was never on the album anyway, it is a collaboration with a close friend that was released for fans as a 'Thank you' for waiting since my album was being delayed."

Why does he vault it up? Is he asburgers? Does he just listen to all his own unreleased music constantly?
>>71568858
OP meant artist.

grimes a shit
>>71568858
>tfw will never sit down after a cold day and bask in the musical ecstasy of 1 TB of unreleased Grimes music
>there are probably several RDJ tracks spread out on Soundcloud and you'll never realize it
>>71569137
wtf i love grimes now
>>71569137

What's your point?
>>71568858
You didnt have to ruin the whole thread
>>71571030
>whining about others adding on-topic content to a thread
Lol

Prince
>Kurt Cobain has a fuck ton of unreleased material that Courtney love slowly releases to keep afloat
>Prince had a fucking vault of unreleased tracks/collaborations he wouldn't release
>One of my favorites Jay Reatard has a ton of shit they'll never release
it's not fair
I don't remember where I read it, but I think Joanna Newsom has a ton of unreleased materiel that she doesn't release because it isn't good enough or something like that.

>RDJ
>Looked for up and coming producers
>find artist on soundcloud who has music that sounds like RDJ
>Said artist puts out new songs
>I comment on new song saying that he is probably RDJ
>Makes the songs I commented on private.
I think I might have found RDJ

Also the profile pic looks like the kid that directed his latest music video.

>1000 gigs of unreleased music

>literally hundreds of thousands of songs

Probably like all the files/layers and stuff. Not 1000 gigs of .Mp3s and shit lol. Also does this bitch not know what a terrabyte is?
I'm sure he has a good bit
>>71571340
This may shock you but it turns out that all the program files that go into the creation of a song file are a tad bigger than that outcome. That number isn't unreasonable at all for someone that actually makes music, I only have a few hundred gigs but don't do this full-time like she does and almost certainly am dealing with smaller project files.
>>71571512
I'm pretty sure his discography lasts forever
Something you couldn't listen to in a lifetime.
>>71568858
yeah... if only she did that with all the music she has released.

>the dude has so much shit in the vaults that will never be released
some of it will be, on the new release of ambient works coming out in June, only on CD and Vinyl
>mfw richard dies 40-50 years from now and we gt a bunch of dank posthumous releases
Do you guys seriously think the releases you hear are the only things the artist ever makes? Come on now...
>>71573492
No shit, sherlock. It's a question of ratio, and OP is saying he believes RDJ is one of the ones with a LOT of unreleased material.
>>71571273
Don't think so.
>As of 2014, he lives in Scotland with his two sons—from his first marriage[92]—and his second wife, a Russian art student.[93]
>>71573253
>some of it will be, on the new release of ambient works coming out in June, only on CD and Vinyl
what?
>>71568575
oh for fuck's sake
At least Viper doesn't keep any of his master pieces hidden.
>>71574451
i used to text Viper.
>>71573599
>Scotty doesn't know
>>71570845
>doing everything yourself =//= good :^)
Good = subjective. Doing everything yourself means you have talent/skills to do your art, being authentic. Checkmate atheist.

this is me, sry lads as far as i can tell im not rdj. big fan tho
were you even around for RDJ's SoundCloud dump?

>ferraro
I could believe this. his catalog is gigantic even now
>dean
probably
>daniel
I doubt it. from reading about what he says about his process of writing, it doesn't seem to come natural to him and takes a lot of thought to piece together something he considers finished. Id say most of what he's done is out there already.
>big shirt nigga
who knows
>>71575672
Yes, and that was probably just scratching the surface of all the material he has.
>>71568575
Same as Aphex Twin but I only released 2 EPs
>>71568575
Have you ever stopped to wonder if obviously personality-driven marketing doesn't make the person behind it more interesting, being instead a deplorable ploy to just sell you something? Most music making isn't even hard per se, most of the big Indie acts just had the right scheme to worm their way into easily impressed hearts. Take Will Toledo, for example. When he was at the tender age of 18, he released the best rock album made in decades, I don't even have to mention it, Twin Fantasy. To top it off, he's one of the most fair-skinned and cute newcomers in music, not to say beautiful. But he only found success through a bigger marketing scheme and appealing to online publications. Now let that sink in.
definitely

never change /mu/
>>71569348
worst gif i've ever the had misfortune of laying my eyes on
>>71575263
Dean seems like he releases almost everything honestly
Viper has a ton of unreleased music
>>71576332
nah im sure he has shitty versions of everything somewhere.
Apparently Frusciante does quite a bit of fucking around in the lab, but not much of that output sees the light of day, at this point.
People also think this of Boards Of Canada.
But I've come to realize that BoC are just lazy bums.
>>71575880
Not likely since hes released the same album six times
