What was the better album of 1996?
the tool
trick question
>>71561317
Maynard says Holy Money was a huge influence on Tool
so theres that
anywho
Soundtracks
>>71561336
>this
it's arguably their best, produced by a fuckin genius
Aenima is such a fluke album. Literally every single song after H. is filler, then a song, then filler, then a mediocre song, then filler, and so on. Why anybody ranks it as high as they do is beyond me.
SFTB
period
>>71561317
>generic twee pop album if If You're Feeling Sinister is rated higher than two of the most ambitious prog and post-rock albums of the decade
lmao
>Through Silver in Blood
>Crimson
>Filosofem
>None So Vile
>Morningrise
>Brave Murder Day
>October Rust
>The Jester race
Damn that was a good year for meal
>>71561548
meal
That was the year of Filosofem and All the Pretty Little Horses
>>71561317
>What was the better album of 1996?
>top album is rated higher
myth buster
>>71561317
>>71561360
My nigga
Metal
real talk, i'm not really interested in what people think is a better album than SftB, but what the hell happened to Swans with that album?
i don't actively dislike any Swans release, but the sheer force of that album is just unmatched in their discography, and they made it relatively late into their career. it has no real precedent, no real successor, it's a sonic monument.
>>71561395
You're right.
Fuck meeee everytime Caesaro Summability came on, I wanted to off myself.
>>71561360
t.scaruffi drone
>>71561518
If you're feeling sinister is a fucking great album faggot
>>71561317
Pinkerton
>>71561317
That is one instance of how fucked up you are
>>71561395
This. I remember when i first listened to Lateralus i was moderately impressed, so i wanted to give the band another chance. Retards were saying that Enema was even better than Lateralus, so i listened to it:
>LE FUCK CALIFORNIA
>FUCK EVERYTHING
>HAHAHA ANAL FISTING
>HAHAHA BEING RAPED IN PRISON
>*bloats the tracklist with joke songs and literal filler*
Oh, yes, but that TOTALLY deep track about finding spiritual enlightenment totally makes up for the rest of the shitty album, right?
Aenima is shit.

>>71561395
Yeah
This is why I prefer Porcupine Tree, their music way more consistent
>>71562470
well it was literally a monument to Swans' entire career, considering that it was going to be their last album. Gira was trying to sum up everything he had been trying to do with the band in that record
however, I'd argue that To Be Kind matches it as far as force goes, although I'd still say SFTB is better
>>71562961
the greentext is your reaction to those songs. you have no way of knowing if those thoughts have anything to do with their intentions
>>71561395
>Literally every single song after H
forty six & two, hooker with a penis and aenema are all good songs that are among the best on that album
it makes perfect sense that /mu/ hates tool considering how obsessed we are with artist's fans. but they are the the wrong target considering that they have a few strong albums
>>71561369
Didn't know he liked Swans
Cool
>>71561548
Don't forget Load
>>71562342
Just because something is rated higher doesn't make it better like it's a fact or something
It all comes down to the person's opinion
>>71563269
lel
you're all wrong
>>71562342
welp, looks like all I can listen to now is the top 10 list on rym
looks like it's radiohead and king crimson time for me ;_;
>>71562470
soundtracks is their most experimental, out there record by far, and it was supposed to be their last one too
hard to say which is their best one since they've evolved a lot, but my faves are children of god, great annihilatorm, soundtracks and the seer
are you even trying?
>>71562720
