this is the worst genre general on the board

salem isn't shugazi
>>71561354
/edm/ and /hhg/ exist
>>71561391
>salem isn't shugazi
why?
what is shugazi then?
>>71561391
in what way you're better than /bleep/
it's also bad, can't deny that, but at least they don't circlejerk over the same 10 albums in every thread
>>71561468
Never said /bleep/, they're a pretty fun general and are definitely more active than this one
>>71561391
>/edm/ and /hhg/ exist
Not anymore
>>71561531
good riddance desu
I thought this was amazing from last year. I'm not alone apparently... from /shugazi/.
Wye Oak - Tween
>>71561279
this is a pretty garbage list, there are about 5 albums worth mentioning overall
no wonder why this general is also shit by any standards

Can you lads rec me some Jgaze in the vein of MasuDore, THE NOVEMBERS and Tokyo Shoegazer?
>>71561603
No. You're wrong. Pleasantly surprised when I saw it.

I wasn't even trying really

Thanks, I'll give them a listen
>>71561712
No, thank you anon, I'll give these a listen
What does /shugazi/ think of pic related?
>>71561824
It was a step up from Neko to Allergy but that's not saying much
Kinda neat to see them continuing to play around with the dubby influences they've only touched on in previous albums, also the singles were both really solid
Pic related is still my favorite release by them I think though
>>71561485
>>71561468
do you seriously consider "any man in first for anime s/t best lad" better than the recs and shares here
>>71561922
nah, just said they're a fun general and more active than this one
/shugazi/ is definitely better with recs and shares by far
2017 release. not too bad

>>71562083
who has the running chart of all the stuff released this year?
>>71562083
This is good. Has a ton of shoegaze hooks.
post some more 2017 albums
I have been thinking lately that Type O Negative might have been the first band to blend metal and shoegaze. Many of their songs really do seem gazey af. Case in point: https://youtu.be/OxF_oBjl2Uo
Also Love You to Death, Wolf Moon...
>>71561824
Has some really great moments, at times i wish it had more shoegaze/dreampop sound to it. Overall i still enjoy it
can someone pls post shoegaze flowcharts?
>>71564970
This
>>71565091
thanks
>>71561824
A step up from 'Neko to Allergy'
Has some great songs on it, I think it blends there more pop oriented sound well with their old sound.
Makes me hopeful for their next album.
I never understood why most people preferred 'Crush' to this one. The production on here gives justice to the songs that were on 'Crush'
Kinda makes me wish he'd redo most of his albums.
hey does anyone have five more albums to add to this chart
only 2017 stuff pls
I know nothing about shoegaze
Is this shoegaze?
>>71565621
Planning for Burial - Below the House
>>71565780
ooooooo
right right
>>71565763
no, it's dream pop + "indie" pop.
What albums are similar to this this was amazing to me
More songs like Bright by Tokyo Shoegazer?
I want something hard-hitting
anyone got a share link for SPC ECO - Sirens and Satellites?
>>71567082
I've found it on soulseek, was just looking for it as well
>>71565336
hey what a coincidence i also came in here to talk about astrobrite
this here is my favorite shoegaze album flat-out. can someone point me to something similarly noisy (yes, i saw granduer of hair up there on the chart but i think that's closer to noise where pinkshinyultrablast rides the lightning)
>>71561279
Are you in Barlow?
I kinda see no other way a no name Erie band made it on to this list.
They're good tho, just saying.
>>71568123
/shugazi/'s pretty well aware of barlow
i think it's just a us thing
>>71568123
Huh thats funny. Had no idea.
Good for them though, talented dudes and nice af.
Someone have a link to download Honey Bee of Moose?

>>71565871
Ruination doesn't really belong on there does it? They've made shoegaze in the past but that album is really just prog rock.
>>71571657
Thank you, I haven't heard this until now, but it's very comfy so far.
>>71561584
I like wye oak
>>71561279
Genuinely upset westkust - last forever isn't on here
>>71567391
I would recommend loveliescrushing if you haven't listened to them yet. I love pinkshinyultrablast
>>71565763
Shoegaze mixes noise pop and dream pop. Think sonic youth mixed with beach house
>>71561279
recently saw Radio Dept live. Shame that they are moving away from the old shoegaze influence their older albums had, but I like the new dream pop focus they are heading towards.
What's everyone's favourite shoegaze that isn't one of the classics or even a well known one?
>>71573043
I don't know if this counts but I've been getting super into this band recently
>>71573043
loveliescrushing - bloweyelashwish
babysbreath's drone opening made me an instant fan
>>71565871
that Heat album is barely shoegaze, also boring as fuck
>>71573067
TAKE THAT BACK
>muh fuzz
>muh reverb set to 11
>>71573057
>>71573059
Yeah they're pretty awesome, you both ended up posting albums by them I haven't listened to yet so I'll check em out. Still not obscure though.
>>71573115
maybe I need to listen to it again but from what I remember it was a lot of lazy 80s nostalgia with one good song (Sometimes)
>>71573125
It does have 80's nostalgia, but it has plenty of shoegazy guitar too. Although it has more dreampop sound to me honestly
>>71573150
I'll prob give it another listen tomorrow then. Although I'm listening to Sometimes right now and this song is still fantastic
>>71573043
Pale Saints - In Ribbons. Or does that count as a classic? I never hear anyone else mention it.
>>71573247
I don't remember either of the pale saints records I listened to so I suppose I'll give them another shot. I'd say they are but not one of the greats so whatevs
>>71573043
I would choose pic related, i love every song and i can listen to it all day
>>71573396
Nice. These are all things I maybe underrated a bit...

i like this album very much
>>71574466
Yeah that's shugazi
>>71573043
I use warm fuzzy noises as a replacement for emotion.
>>71574466
Has a neo psychedelic vibe to it but there's definitely a crossover.
And thanks. I dig it.

melody's echo chamber, all natural lemon and lime flavors - turning into small, candy claws, sweet trip, heaven and las vegas, and radio dept have been some favs of mine to listen to tripping. Last trip I listened to chapterhouse
>>71576468
I listened to asobi seksu in the peak of my first trip and it was pretty damn crazy. During the end, I blasted off LSD and the search for god and it was a crazy experience. Definitely listen to LSD and the search for god, not just because of their name. I'm telling you, some parts are like meant to be fuck with you when you're on it.

dopamine - dying away in the deep fall
This will sound really faggy but does anybody got a song that will help with the feels of loving someone you will never be together with?
>>71573043
I don't know if it's "less known" but Sun Devoured Earth - Good Memories are the hardest to keep or probably Alceste - Ecailles de Lune (is this even shoegaze ? I discovered this in here anyways).
>>71582609
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMKkbco7UFE
One of the most emotionally charged /shugazi/ songs, in my opinion.
>>71582320
The Cherry wave put out an album in january if you dont know already. It's pretty good!
>>71582684
this so much, the vocals are perfect.
what is some good synthgaze/darkwave stuff with little to no guitars?
>>71582684
Thank you so much anon, woke up in the middle of the night from a dream involving her, feel like shit. This really helps a bit, i love it.

the vocals are abysmal tho

>>71586492
He's right.
Please tell me there's something as good as this.
>>71587556
Their second album, The Unnatural World, isn't quite Deathconsciousness but comes close. Their side project Black Wing is basically HANL but with electronic elements, very good.
But that's it. The only stuff that compares to it is the other stuff they have made.
>>71587606
I've listened to everything of theirs.
There is now a depressive shoegaze shaped hole in my chest.
That was the Voids album cover too though, but I've already listened to Deathconsciousness a thousand times over.
>>71565871
>>71573666
alright made some changes to it
what albums can replace some of the ones on here
>>71561637
pic related might just be my fav k-shoegaze album. Pretty good
>>71565871
that Heat album is real fuckin' neato
>>71587606
Black Wing is pretty dope so far, can a niBBa get a link for it pls?
>>71587606
The next best thing I got for you is Chasms- On the Legs of Love Purified. A Place to Bury Strangers- Exploding Head works too. Both are in a different vein than HANL but still good /depressioncore/.
>>71587972
It's extremely good. Deathconsciousness is the greater artistic achievement but I listen to ...Is Doomed way more, since you need to be in a particular state of mind for Deathconsciousness.

This is actually a very sensible rec, especially if you're looking for a blissful, let's say "spiritual" experience instead of just "omg im frkkin out man xdd" kind of experience (which isn't inherently bad, but...)
